We've got family visiting from Aus so we're off to see them in a bit. Just went to price up fitting an electric garage door opener, so if you have any experience with that then please share.:D

The iron ones I've seen wouldnt be too easy with silicone, at least with the flashband you wouldnt need to take it apart and cause yourself more problems. Its always worth having a roll of the stuff with you, and nick your mrs hairdryer if you havent got a heat gun- you'll probably need it to get a good stick/seal. A nice little extra I've done before is top aint over the top of the repair with bitumen, but its not necessary.

Its good stuff mate, you just need the small roll but it will sort a lot of repairs. Cut a piece just a litle bit bigger then you need and trim it when its fitted, the stuff is a pain in the **** once you've warmed it up but it makes for a great repair that'll last.

And I have a heat gun no need to mention that I bought her hair dryer as well.I think she would not be happy to give it to me for gutter repairs.

To fix an iron gutter joint properly you need to remove the old bolt put sealant in between the join and put a new bolt in. Can't see a flashband sticking to a dirty rusting iron gutter myself.....
