I am getting a Pure Freedom Nano trolley and want to use it with a Gardiner SLX pole.

Could anyone tell tell me if the two are compatible?

Thanks.

Yes it is. The trolley is just a water storage unit with a pump attached. You can use any make of pole with it. You will just need to know what fittings PF supply and then match the pole hose coupling to it.

PF offer an extension hose at an extra price. They have Hozelok fittings on that. So if PF sell the unit with a Hozelok stop connector like this

http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/pump-hose/hose-fittings-adapters/garden-hose-couplings/hozelock-type-plastic-hose-connector.html

then you would order the Gardiner pole with a Hozelok tail from the drop down menu.

Thanks Spruce.

Is there any particular site that's best to buy these poles from?

Also any recommendations for brushes and how many i will need?

Thanks in advance.

I have the nano trolley and it was shipped with the rectus 21 female, so the perfect for the gardeners pole as they are shipped with the male fitting.

Gardiners for poles

Brushes?

I think the most popular is which I like.

the other brush is

They are pretty similar. You get one of your choice with the pole. I would probably start with the first brush and add the following flocked brush.

If you have a lot of leaded windows on your round then a flocked brush is recommended.

My son likes the stiff brush but I don't.

I'm afraid that brushes are a personal thing. You will find what some love other hate.

Quickloq is good because it means you can swap brushes quickly as required.

So I guess you are saying - order the trolley and the pole later when you see what's arrived or phone them up and ask them what fitting they are going to ship the trolley with so both items arrive at the same time.

I ordered my nano trolley via eBay from purefreedom and the photo illustrated was with the rectus fitting, I wasn't bothered either way as I have lots of rectus fitting and only one hoseloc fitting, so if it came with the hoseloc fitting it would have used that for spare when connecting to mains tap, so in my situation it didn't matter but would make perfect sense to ring and double check with the suppliers.

Thanks again Spruce.

Ive just ordered the pole and a couple of brushes from the Gardiner site. I’m going over to the guys at Pure Freedom in a couple of weeks to pick the trolley up and get everything set up. Should have the pole and brushes by then.

Jets in the brush? Any particular preference? ?

Thanks.

This is very stressful because again people have different preferences.

My son uses a packback and uses fans on a slower water flow. On a low flow they are better than pencil jets.

Now, some will say that its better to up the flow as you can rinse quicker. This is true, but a higher flow also wastes water during the scrubbing phase of the cleaning process.

My son is slower washing each window than I am but his setup time is quicker than mine using a hose reel, so time wise there isn't much in it.

Using a van mount I prefer pencils TBH. So what would I recommend you do?

I would order the brush with fan jets (we have got the red ones - the black ones are new and we haven't tried them) and order a couple of pencil jets in case you believe they are better.

http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/water-fed-poles/brushes/brush-fittings-jets-sockets-scrapers/brass-pencil-jets-standard-size-2mm-x2.html

or smaller jet size

http://gardinerpolesystems.co.uk/all-products/water-fed-poles/brushes/brush-fittings-jets-sockets-scrapers/brass-pencil-jets-half-jet-size-1-4mm-x2.html

The brush will come with two jet holes. We have a spare pole on the van which has a flocked brush on it with both pencil and fan jets fitted. Its quick to swap from one to the other.

My son tried the smaller jets in an old brush. When I replaced the jets with fans and he stuck with those. He never asked for his old jets to be put back.

Pencil jets are better at rinsing bits off the glass due to the concentrated flow of water. But if you do a quick rinse with your brush on the glass followed by a rinse with it off then you will be ok. (I am a great believer in rinsing off the glass even at 45'.)

I'm going to push this further. You need a good on/off flow valve. This will enable you to stop the water flow as soon as you have finished cleaning a window. This will save water.

I recommend the Exceed Univalve. I never got on with a handheld tap.

Some suggest that the valve works well with Gardiners PU pole hose - available as an option when ordering a new slx pole. I've never used it as I have always used Exceed's pole hose.In fact we still have the orange hose on my pole which has to be 6 years old as I used it in the old Aquadapter days.

I looked for the Gooseneck valve on Gardiner's site this morning but I couldn't see it listed - only the service pack.

Have they discontinued it? @Alex Gardiner
Yes we have - it is currently out of stock as the manufacturers have had some production issues with this product.

Whilst these issues are being worked on we felt that it was best to pull the product from the website rather than keep displaying it with no stock available.

We are hoping that in a couple of months they will have this production issue resolved.

I've recently moved on to Gardiner's new Black 100° fans and can say I found them excellent. They are much better than the red ones.  I always found the red ones to good with my trolley (5lpm pump) but only so so with my backpack (3lpm pump)

However, my recommendation would be that if you are new to wfp, start with pencil jets and get proficient with them before trying fans. They are a different kettle of fish altogether and require a more challenging rinsing technique.

Thanks. I looked for it when I was compiling an earlier reply and couldn't see it listed as either a spare of an add on with a new pole order.

I was going to try them but decided to stick a spare set of pencils in my extreme brush

4 pencils and 6lpm pump on 40 and no need to even think about rinsing

Even phobic glass has a sheet running down it while scrubbing

Using a swivel also i don't actually rinse anything.. just a quick side to side scrub down the glass once scrubbed properly

Been checking my work once dried and faultless finish

Thank you again everyone.

Spruce, thank you for taking the time to answer my questions.
