    Hi guys,

When trad-ing theres so many houses that CAN'T be done on a lader, anyway, I was doing this house, I told her before I couldnt do upstairs too dangerous.

I think I asked before about special ladders as apparently her old window cleaner had special ladders(apparently)

I did upstairs a different way, ok I might need longer ladders...

But is this acceptable, I know this will be controversial by posting this, so any flamewars this will be locked!

If this turns out that it really isnt safe then next time I will take my trolly to this area, think i may get my windows tinted aswell, dont like leaving expensive equipment in the car....

To me, if the ladder is at the right angle, and that board is in good nick, then it shouldn't be a problem, even if while you climbing it just catches the lower guttering. Just watch yourself.

I had to put a garden plant pot, (made out of concrete or something and full of compost was so heavy) to foot the ladder is that ok aswell?

It's not the best of things, if the ladder is set at the right angle then it would be ok on its own, but I can't say yes it is if you know what I mean,

I've seen many trad guy's just step off the ladder and clamber about on roof tiles to get to windows like that. Even seen one numpty 2 floors up clambering about on a narow bay ptiched tiled roof :D

WFP is the way to go on awkward windows like that ;)

Its safe I do them like that all the time. What would be even better would be to screw your mits on to a bigger ladder. Then lip them over the top of the roof. That way if it ever does slide back on you it will catch the bottom of the mits and hopefully stop it sliding.

My special ladder setup I use for roof-line work would resovle that issue....Would be alot safer to use but would not be that practical for cleaning windows all day long.

You should seriously consider getting yourself a wfp setup to reduce the risk of ladder work. Either that maybe try trad window cleaning with a pole for awkward jobs like that. You will then be able to take on more work than you would struggling to do safely using a ladder.

The way I look at it there is no point in risking your neck trying to earn a few quid when other safer options are available. ;)

Then whenever you go wfp tops, you'll not want to climb ladders again, then that will lead you to wanting to wfp all bottoms too.. From I have went wfp I really hate getting up ladders even if it's only once a week.. Was fine with ladders for 4 years.. But seriously, climb ladders up to or more than 100times a day? Or just walk about with a pole in your hand? I go for walking with the pole!!
