Did you consider other cars like peugeot partner or citroen berlingo. My brother have one (berlingo) and after 12 years still going strong.

I think the belingo & partner have a smaller payload.
The combo/doblo I was looking at had a 750. Thinking of swapping over to WFP within 12 months so the 750 would be fine

I've got a combo. It's ok but a bit sluggish. I can live with it tho. Also a bit high for getting the ladders off. It will do

You got the 1.3 or the 1.6?
    What size tank?
Maybe a rear roller will help me get the ladders off. I'm 6ft1 so got a decent reach.

stop messing about saveing cash , just buy a transit with a 6speed box , get it limited to 60mph like ours are all done there as cheap to run as any thing and they do the job better then any thing else

I probably will go for a transit eventually.
    Bit expensive right now though.
Just need a cheaper van to last till 2019 then trade up

Fiat Doblo Cargo Maxi – Total Payload 1,080kg
    Vauxhall Combo Total Payload 1,075kg
    Citroen Berlingo 850 L1 – Total Payload 951kg

750l + You +passenger and all the equipment and you are very close or even above the max payload.
I will have to look at something a little bigger like primestar/traffic/vivaro with payload capacity up to 1281kg
