Odd Tds Readings

OK, I did a little experiment earlier tonight. What I did was pour some water that had boiled and cooled from the kettle into a cup and I poured some water straight from the tap into a cup. I then dipped my tds meter in each cup. I did the test several times, and the same results kept coming up.

The readings were;

Boiled 077

Tap 062

Why?

When the water boils same of the water evaporates but the solids don't, so leaving the same amount of solids in less water

Also could be the amount of solids already in the kettle,limescale around the element coming loose.

the electrodes in the water, is what determins what the tds is, as an electric current is sent from 1 side of the tds machine to other and depending on how much resistance there is determines how high the tds is, hot water H2o all the moleclues are all over the place in hot water so it throws the reading out,

try the tds machine in pure water and then boil it and get a other reading

plus unless the water is at the same temp, then readings will be different

Hmm, my dad used to boil water and let it cool to top up his car battery many moons ago.
