Hi, just after a bit of advice if anyone can help.
We have turned down a couple of jet washing jobs recently due to water supply. Trouble is, there’s none available on site and we only have access to the tank on the van. 600L. It doesn’t last long enough and would mean driving back and forth to refill. Which is a long round trip each time.

How would you clean a shed load of concrete slabs around a development that’s an hours drive away with limited water?

Hire a bowser? If it's a development then surely they have used water to make the mortar, plaster etc? There must be water supplies on site. Make having access to a decent water supply part of the contract.

Apologies, not a development as in under construction.
It’s a managing agent for blocks of flats. Each flat has water but there are no outside taps for maintenance. Which is strange and annoying as they have numerous properties all over.
They have numerous contractors and we’ve lost work trying to figure out how we can clean large areas without the water supply. Yet others have done so somehow.

If you can't access a water supply, or carry enough to undertake the job then there's no point booking it in.

You need a contingency plan, towable bowser, rented local authority standpipe or more flexibility in taskings

That’s why we’ve turned jobs down before.

Like you say, I think renting a standpipe would have to be the way forward for larger areas.

Would a hypo bring up concrete slabs as good as a jet wash would? Or is hypo more for the lichens and algae etc?

On these we hire a standpipe - not as straight forward as it used to be because you now need to take an exam on how to operate the valve ( I kid you not ! )
I think the hire is £250 deposit - returnable then they charge you the usage

You can hire a hydrant key from your local water company and take water from fire hydrants and pay per sm for water used

I believe its a national company Aquam now - not the local water company.
They also don't like you using the Hydrants either - you are encouraged to find a water outlet (WO) to use

That's what I do. Just a shame they don't do meters with instantaneous 2" bore outlets 🤣
When I used to work for a drilling company there was always a race on a Monday morning to grab the 2" hydrant standpipe to fill the 2 IBCs in the van otherwise you'd be stuck with the metered ones working away all week.

The manager just said don't get caught/use a tucked away hydrant out of sight 🤦

The standpipe has a water meter built into it when you return it they bill you for water used
We are only issued fixed outlet garden tap versions. The one on the left. They claim not to have any instantaneous versions for hire here as they place too much demand on the main. I'm lucky as my mate has a fire cover event hire company so getting a private appliance or bowser isn't a problem
