Hi All,

Must say some great info and feedback for us Newbies.

Came across the Osmotics site  which appeared to have some good compact R/O DI systems all connected up.

Was considering this: https://www.osmotics.co.uk/products/6-Stage-450-Gallon-Per-Day-Reverse-Osmosis-System.html#reviews or the 150 GPD system. All comments/thoughts from the experts most welcome as I'm not in a position to produce water from own supply and would have to rely on a friends supply  and pay for it . A portable option might be the answer.

As a side note, most water on the Island is metered so another headache and SpotlessWater are opening a site here in the next lifetime , or so they say !!

Keep up the good work people !

Just confirm that the membrane are Axeon that they are fitting.

I would always recommend Daqua.co.uk for r/o units due to personal service.

I have bought a couple of components from Osmotics and the buying experience was fine. But I knew what I wanted.

Often these suppliers cater for a whole range of reverse osmosis applications. Window cleaners use a lot of water and the third housing that Osmotics supplies with their system is a resin vessel. Its too small for use for window cleaning. You need a proper di vessel, so you are buying something you don't really need.

Nice touch having a pressure gauge and flush kit but you could ask Daqua to fit these.

Third call for Daqua @willy windows I grabbed a 450gpd system from them and it hasn't missed a beat yet. I now use a booster pump too and I can make plenty of pure over the weekend to keep me flowing the following week.

many windiest on the island? Down there on holiday soon and can't wait to get back on that ferry

Thanks for the replies all.I  didn't think about Daqua !

will have a look in a while and send them an email if i think its possible. With regard to last post the answer in not straight forward! In the last 2/3 years I've seen 4 people cleaning windows, 1 with ladders, very recently.1 with van mount system and 2 guys with barrel/pole setup .On the other hand I've seen  quite a few vans in Tescos C/P that I would describe as Total Property Maintenance businesses , offering cutting grass, painting, plastering, cleaning services, in/out and windows etc etc !

Trying to cover all the bases seems to be the thing and therefore couldn't say how many windies about.

Enjoy your hols !! ?.

Many of us can offer advise but its based on our experience and is influenced by our environment.

Whilst its a good thing to keep an open mind, the downside is that it can take away your focus.

We know of an ex window cleaner (now retired) who had his fingers in 'several pies'. He did window cleaning off ladders and offered gardening services as well. But his business never seemed to gel. The equipment he needed to clean windows was not conducive to garden maintenance. So if he did both garden maintenance and window cleaning for the same customer he would have to go back to the same house twice. It was a bit of drama to keep having to change equipment over. He worked from the family car and trailer.

When his son, who he used to work with, took over his round, he dumped the garden maintenance side and focused on window cleaning. He also went wfp and now has a good solid customer base. Maybe if his Dad had bought a van, fitted it out wfp and towed a trailer with his garden gear on the back he might have been able to get the business to work better. I don't know.

We used to offer internal window cleaning as an add-on to our business. We don't promote it now. Even so we took on a large quarterly internal commercial window clean about 3 years ago. On paper it sounded like a good idea because we could do it when it wasn't window cleaning weather outside. In reality it has only worked well on a few ocassions. The job has to be prebooked in advance. I look at the weather forecast and plan accordingly. But as the forecast is not usually very accurate we find ourselves cleaning these internal windows with beautiful sunshine outside rather than the forecast rain and gales.

Whilst your area might dictate otherwise, my suggestion is to focus on one aspect and go all out to grow that business as quickly as possible. Having your fingers in multiple pies is like being the proverbial jack of all trades but master of none in a business sense.
