Pole question!

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Hi Alex, If I were to buy the slx 25 could I add all the extentions from no. 6 to no. 10?. Also how easy are they to fit?. Do I need to rethread pole hose etc.

I may need to ask your advise about which pole to use for cetain jobs. (ie. 3 storey houses, solar panels, velux windows on 3 story houses etc.)

By the way, when will the slx 25 be back in stock.

Thanks

Yes you can.

They are very easy to fit due to the quick release gooseneck and pole hose assembly - . To fit the sections, unclamp and slide out the gooseneck. Disconnect the gooseneck hose from the pole hose using the John Guest connector. Let the pole hose drop out of the base of the pole.Remove the end cap and slide on as many sections as you want to add. Slide back in a new longer pole hose pack (or the old one if long enough). Connect to the gooseneck and re-clamp the gooseneck in position and start using again. Generally this would take no more than 2 minutes.

Would I recommend using an SLX25 with extensions up to 47ft? For occasional work it would be fine used like this. However it will not be the most rigid working option. It would be better to have the 25ft for everyday work and then choose a purpose designed 45ft pole for the higher work.

Hi Alex, i am a total novice at pole work but i have had to get a trolley system due to needed it for some work, the highest i am will be cleaning is 4 storey, i wont be using the pole much to start with. What would you recomend ?

Generally speaking you will not want to be working with a four storey pole for all of your work.

You could make do with one pole - 25ft and then add 2 or 3 extensions for occasional 4th level work when needed.

Thanks for that Alex.

In reality I would probably only add a couple of sections, but it's nice to no I could go much higher for occasional work.

Do you know when the slx25 will be back in stock?

Thanks

Alex, regarding the slx 25 and the extentions. Does the slx 25 have a fibreglass last section for safety reasons?. What about the extentions, are they carbon or fibreglass. If they are fibreglass maybe I will be better off going for an slx 35 and maybe a 22 clx

Hi Barney

The SLX25 has full carbon sections. The handle section is carbon fibre, but has a very thin insulative coating on top of the carbon fibre for safety reasons. All sizes of extensions also have this same thin coating.

Technically this would mean that an SLX25 with 2 extensions would be fractionally less rigid than the SLX35 - the difference would not be great though.

Personally I always find the two pole route easier. This is for 2 main reasons:

1. The smaller cheaper pole will get used the most and will attract the most wear. This means that when it is worn it is cheaper to replace. It also means that the more expensive longer pole will last a lot longer.

2. You are carrying out 90% of your work with a lightest most compact pole you can which will make life easier.

Thanks for that advice Alex. It's good to know that the sections are not fibreglass, but carbon. I'll need to think about this now and put an order in the next week or so.

From your experience Alex, what size pole would you need for

1. Two storey, with velux windows or solar panels?

2. Three storey?

3. Three storey with velux or solar panels?

Thanks

1. Two storey, with velux windows or solar panels? - 35ft will just do it if they are veluxes set at the fire regulation distance from the gutter on a modern height house. If it is a Victorian house then you would need up to a 45ft pole.

2. Three storey? 30ft pole

3. Three storey with velux or solar panels? This would probably need a 50-55ft pole.

OK, Thanks for that Alex, I may need to think again about the size for pole I need as I have an old victorian 3 storey house. I also have several customers who want velux windows and solar panels cleaned.

I think 25ft is not going to be anywhere near big enough.

What pole would you recommed for no. 3

The Xtreme47 with the option to add an extension if needed.
