Hi all, just wondering is there any particular best way for putting new, unwrapped 8mm minibore on to claber reel? Maybe sounds bit of a dumb question but hey ho. I think I saw on one clip a feller unwinds it all on a large area of grass straightened out and then get it all lined up so it goes on good without kinks. Another thing I was thinking, how likely to use 100m? I guess wait and see and if possible cut 20m or so off in the future. Just using backpack and pole hose at mo but got tank, pump  etc for van.

cheers : )

Hi KS

Technically it is not possible to fit a full 100m of 8mm OD Minibore on to a standard Claber reel. They can fit 100m of 6mm OD Microbore, but only about 80-85m of Minibore.

One of the easiest ways to get a fresh reel of hose on to a hose reel is as follows:

1. Carefully remove the outer wraps of cling film and any strapping but leave the reel intact and lying flat on the ground

2. Take the hose from the inside of the reel and if possible carefully pull the hose out to its full length - best to do this in a garden or car park with sufficient length

3.Then connect up the other end to the hose reel and carefully wind the hose on to the reel. It is important when doing this to layer the hose up as carefully as possible to ensure maximum efficiency of hose on the reel.

Cheers alex,

that sounds good, was thinking 100m may be too much.  Nice bit of open park near us so think I'll reel it on down there.

There is another method which is quicker, but needs two people and is harder work.

1. Unwrap the reel packaging and be careful to keep coiled up

2. Connect the outer loose end to the centre of the hose reel

3. One person needs to then hold the roll of hose by the centre and gently unroll it as the other person winds it on to the reel

It sounds simple but gets quite hard work for the person unrolling the hose
