Me again guys

Just wondering, when visiting a customer to give a quote, are you deciding there and then and telling them the price, or do you send them a quote when you get home?

I always feel for any bog standard job, even with a conservatory on the back, that you should quote there and then. I think it gives the customer the confidence that you know what you're doing, whereas walking away and going back to them makes them think why you couldn't quote there and then. It's not exactly rocket science and we don't have to price up equipment

For a 'normal' house, walk round, assess parking, access, obstacles, and the number and size of windows, doors, conservatory etc. Ask them if they want regular or one off. Then give price. I do use an app to price as that way I can't forget how many windows etc where on each side of a building. The app I built using MIT App Inventor, if you are Ok with a bit of basic computer programming and logic it's much easier than trying to learn how to create an app from scratch.
If you go away and let them know the price you then can't answer any questions as easily as you can face to face. Plus if they say yes you can then get all their details.
