Remove End Stop

Just purchased an extension for my SLX22 but having problems removing the end stop from my existing pole.Any tips as it won't budge.

Hammer or a blunt object, once it starts it will go

Piece of wood and a hammer  Just go round it gently and it will 

loosen it enough to pull off
