I’ve got a 4040 ro system and just wondered if the pre filters should be flushed and if so how often ?

No, just the membrane. The carbon prefilter must be changed according to the suppliers/manufacturers specifications. It protects the membrane from be destroyed by Chlorine. We usually change the sediment filter at the same time.I’ve got a 4040 ro system and just wondered if the pre filters should be flushed and if so how often ?
As spruce has mentioned in previous post reference to prefilters, when buying new they will have a manufacturers specification for each stating service life by volume which is best to record and change them out every so many quoted LitresI’ve got a 4040 ro system and just wondered if the pre filters should be flushed and if so how often ?
I do both together also they’re cheap enough when buying a couple at a timeNo, just the membrane. The carbon prefilter must be changed according to the suppliers/manufacturers specifications. I believe the red buttons are pressure release buttons incase you get air in your system.Yes I’ve pencilled on the filter housing just before roughly 77000 litres if my memory is correct which in my case would be around 3 months. My pre filters have red buttons at the top which let water out when pressed which I assumed were flushes!
I’m glad they don’t need flushing tbf less to remember

If the filters are clear you can see it in the tops of the filters , and sometimes no water will come out of them until you bleed them with the red button , most of the time they will self bleed and push the air through and the water will come through without having to do anything. How would you know if you have air in the system?
The red buttons are primarily for pressure release to allow you to unscrew the housing filter bowl because constant pressure in a closed system makes them difficult to release. Think of it as a bleed off valveYes I’ve pencilled on the filter housing just before roughly 77000 litres if my memory is correct which in my case would be around 3 months.
