Probably better just putting the extra few quid in and getting the HF5, it's something you only want to replace every few years. Personally I wouldn't order this from the window cleaning warehouse either, I've never actually had a problem with them but they have such a bad rep I wouldn't want to place such a large order through them. Try Daqua, they specialise in RO products and Doug will give you all the advice you need. You seem to have highlighted 'Low operating pressures' on the pic, 55PSI is not low pressure so don't worry about that.Anyone else on here using this membrain if so is it any good ? Doug came highly recommended to me. The full set up 4040 RO with HF5 with 20 inch pre filter housing was around £650 which was cheaper than anywhere else. I've had to call him a couple of times for help since too, can't fault the service. 22 months is not long at all if the input TDS is only 150 though mate, @spruce has just reached 6 years on his membrane and there isn't that much difference between HF4 and HF5.Thanks mate I’ve been using one of the water genie ones for the last 22 months but it’s ready to be changed now as it’s only reducing the TDS down to 47. I’m a little disappointed with it as I was expecting it to last longer than that hence why I’m thinking about trying a different brand this time.

Thanks for all the reply’s guys.
That membrane will save you money when compared to an Axeon. But what you save you will pay for with resin. Overall, it will cost you much more.
Its specificied as an HF4 with optimum 100psi operating pressure. Most of us have water pressure half that.
My advise; don't even consider buying it.
Someone on one of the forums did and true to the spec, he could only achieve an 85% efficiency from new.
So if your tap water tds is 150ppm your resin will have to polish off 22ppm. With an Axeon membrane running at 97% your resin will be polishing off 5ppm.
Take the amount of water you use a month, use a resin calculator and see what the extra annual cost of resin is of the water produced by the cheap membrane.
That ones out of stock dude... By the look of it most of the budget ones are. Spruce is most definitely our resident RO expert but, to throw my 10 pence worth in, if you are looking at other cheaper brands I would just get the cheapest. Not enough people rate or use them to give a first hand opinion of them. The other alternatives that people will suggest are only marginally cheaper so not worth considering in my opinion. This is why most go for Axeon. Thanks for all the reply’s guys.
Spruce would you recommend the hf4 or 5 Axeon.
And what do you think of this one as an in between cost option. Things are a little bit tight this month the van cost a shed load last month
Thanks for all the advice mate it’s really appreciated. The TDS reading has gone up from 28 to 47 over the last couple of months or so. I have a feeling it may have been damage over the winter when we had all that bad weather I forgot to put the heater on in the shed and it froze one night so maybe that has played a part in it’s early death. That ones out of stock dude... I feel you on things being tight. I spend just under a grand replacing the gearbox in my van the same month I bought my RO.... Genuinely surprised the wife didn't stab me [emoji23]. Thing is, if you can get your hands on the cash and still afford to eat, or pay by credit card and pay it back next month.... Basically you can save a fortune in the long run. If you spend £180 and it lasts a year and a half like your last one thats £120 a year on membranes, if you can spend £318 at Daqua and it lasts you 5 years then its £60 a year on membranes. Plus the hassle of changing them is taken away from you.
I still can't help thinking that getting a TDS of 47 after that amount of time is stange. Have you checked all the seals and O rings on the filters as this can affect it. Its also worth checking the colour of the waste water incase something has contaminated the membrane, especially if it comes out orange/red. Did it go up to 47 over time or all of a sudden?

Thanks Spurce it’s very good of you to take the time to reply in such detail and the link is most appreciated that’s £34 cheaper than anywhere else i have seen it so I’m going to order it now
Operates at very low pressures - 6.8bar might be a low pressure in some applications but 99.9% of our water supplies are not at 95psi.
I have 50psi 13lpm water pressure and flow from our outside tap.
I have been very pleased with the HF5 Axeon membrane I have in my 4040. Its 6 years old and still producing at 97% efficiency. That's what I recommend. My r/o is in a wooden cabinet with a tube heater on a thermostat. The temperature inside the cabinet never drops below 8 degrees. My 7 liter di vessel is in there as well. I have 20" prefilters and the carbon block is replaced after every 76,000 liters of tap water has past through it.
I will replace that with another Axeon HF5 when the time comes. Yes they are more expensive initially than an HF4 Axeon but this membrane has produced 2lpm of pure without the need of an additional booster pump.
