I've always had cheap ones £30-£50 but now I've got a van and spent £160 on them and I love them, feel so much safer having ladders on. I wouldn't go back to cheap ones again... I had some once where the wind blew off the ladder inc the roof bars, wasn't good going down the duel carriage way.

A quick word... when ordering make sure the make and model of your vehicle hasn't changed that year.. Or you end up using a ladder to get your ladders off... :D

same as Toby have lost ladders off vehicles so just buy the trade racks 8x4 with rollers can carry all sorts safely £200 roughly usually galvanised so dont rust and don't bend with ladder clamps fitted carry as many ladders as required but its a big outlay

Bungees are not a good idea in my experience. Many a time have I had to drive with my arm out the window holding onto the ladders on a windy day haha
