Hi guys, I've a leaking pump from the wing nut. I've just tightened it again, for the third time. Do these wing nuts deteriorate in time and need replacing? Had the pump and wing nuts 6 years. TIA

I believe it's a taper thread on the wingnut and hard glass fibre reinforced ABS in the pump head.

They do not need to be really tight and they must not have applied ptfe tape on them as it can break down and enter the diaphragm 

They are a pence part and worth having spares on the van

Cheers APW. I've never used ptfe on them, but I'm really having to tighten one with all my strength. I'll order some today ?
