My 2009 dispatch new shape 2.0 litre diesel has just started showing a fault after having to change the battery.

Battery died on Monday when starting van it just went. it took a bit longer than normal to start the last few weeks.

Replaced with new battery after the other one lasted only 14 months from new. Under 3 year waranty it was replaced. When started up great, then it started to cut out a few times, when driving, got ok driving , it then showed there was a fault with warning coming on dash board, now last couple of days it has lost power when driving as if the engine stops but starts straight up a split second, then a spanner shows up on dash then disapears untill it happens again.

Took it to be checked today, put his hand held engine tester in but it showed no fault. He says bring it back in on Monday to see if the bigger machine can show any engine faults anywhere. mentioned the alternater may have a fault especially with the new battery only lasting 14 months

has anyone had anything similar happen, what was the remedy

it just needs the faults clearing jonny, the second the battery was dis connected and a new one connected it flags up and shows a fault/the ecu goes into limp mode and all sorts of issues happen

my faults on my vivaro were cleared by a local mobile mechanic with the snap on reader

methinks you may want to look at another mechanic or garage-your problem should have been easily sorted

Firstly check the glow plug relay!lift bonnet and turn ignition it should click

Are the battery terminals tight a lose connection will kill battery even if slightly lose

But with you saying its losing power while driving them fine next min and kicking in is a sign of turbo failure as well

Get the oil dropped straight away turn plug it in and reset service light will cost a fiver!

2.0 hid engine in my opinion is one of the best Diesel engines ever made but the do love a service

My suggestion is to book it in Citromatic in Thornaby behind the police station. They will put it on Lexia and read the fault codes with PSA's own vehicle computer. Half the code readers the independent garages have are useless on Citroens.

well i drove it to florrys today, auto electricians, booked in tomorrow, while driving back home 5 minutes the van power just went dead,

phoned AA we have free through house insurance, explained to him about replacing battery, first thing he looked at was the battery, this van has a spring cover over the + trminal , this was not secure onto the terminal, he pushed it back onto terminal and POWER again , may have been jumping on and off battery terminal, to cause the cutting out. it must have become loose fully ill keep an eye out for the next few days to see if it re occurs.

Thanks for your feedback.

Spruce is Citromatic a citroen workshop garage, are they decent.

ill look them over for future faults

I said to check terminals it's a common problem even slightly lose ***** um

the terminals were ok, but these vans also have a spring loaded cover over this terminal, this was the main cause. yes i should have just looked to dismiss, but i didnt. as usual looking for something serious. especially when the mechanic yesterday didnt even bother looking at the terminals

lesson learned

One thousand times better than those idiots at Evan's Halshaw on the Yarm road. They are to Citroen as Lawson's is to VW.

They specialise in Citroen, Peugeot and Fiat, but they aren't a main dealer workshop.

They aren't cheap, but then their hourly rate is less than Citroen's. The service is much better - I haven't an issue with them so far. Others also speak highly of them.

If you book you can also ask for a courtesy car; they have 3 old Citroen Xsara's.
