One thing I have been wondering is how much work is out there regarding cleaning Solar Panels for residential customers. For the guys who are offering this service are you finding much demand for it.

Cheers

We don’t canvass for it but do do quite a lot of customers pannnels if they ask have got quite a lot on 6 month repeat clean nice little extra to the window price

I offer it but i'm not really established enough to comment yet. There is a company by me that specialise in solar panels and have the word 'solar' in the name (Doesn't feel right naming the poor lad). Some of my customers have moved over from them. A few said they felt they were doing windows as a side job because the name and the website etc uses the word solar a lot.

Thanks for the feedback on this lads. I remember reading in the past that if you really wanted to get into doing them you would need the right pole and the Gardiner Extreme 47 was one of the favourite poles of choice. That would be a huge investment to make and even now I don't know if there would be enough work in my area that would justify this outlay. The longest pole I have at the moment is a SLX 25.

I do some mate. I don't have a min price I just offer a price I am happy with depending on wot point of busyness I am at...supply and demand.

I rank pretty high for panels and my mate ranks high locally too; we have between us had like 4 jobs in a year and a bit.

If u got website seod nationally up here then it maybe would become fairly regular but for one region work in Scotland and as a primary focus there is defo other add ons that should take precedence

Ie gutters *winter and drives/patios *summer

Thanks Chris for the feedback on this, well that's going to be the same down here I would imagine. I will focus on other services that will be more profitable.   :1f44d:

Do you need the 70 degree gooseneck for cleaning the solar panels? I will be cleaning mine soon and wondering what gooseneck to buy? any thoughts thx.
More importantly if i don't have a stand off get one mate. I done panels yesterday just with a standard slx 27 and a stand off and a ladder matrix. No issue at all and only maybe used 18 foot of reach max

I will be getting a 40 foot pole so I can dodge the ladder issue. But I have a standoff permanently fitted to my ladder but slowly getting away from ladder use altogether.

Did my solar panels today from ladder at the gutter level. Thought it would be easier as my fan jets broke. Taped the end of the hose to the neck of brush and away I went, 8 back and 8 front. We charge £60 attendance fee no matter how few panels there is. Took me less than 2hrs with degreaser and hot water then rinsed from outside tape connection. They came up sparkling and hopefully get more juice in the process. Will be adding solar panel cleaning to the side of my van next week hopefully. :1f609:

i cant see it being a huge business but i can see it part of a window cleaning service. As an additional service. Salt streaks or dots on solar panels is not a big issues. I think most people use a car brush to wash it once in a while

Honestly it's my least popular service. Plenty of web enquiries just not many for this service.

I have solar panel cleaning on the side of my van but no enquires since its been there (over a year). Only had 2 customers this year to clean their panels and that was through Checkatrade. Only positive out of it was getting the job to bird proof the edge of their panels with wire mesh. £300 and £500 I charged but cleared their gutters into the bargain. I don't think there is enough demand and the price is usually below £60 a time but if you want to fit the mesh then its a nice earner.
