Hi I have replaced my old solenoid with a new one. The tank is empty turn on the water no water passing through the solenoid.

Place hand in the tank pushing up the float to make contact, water passes through the solenoid so is working the wrong way around.

Cant keep getting up in the middle of the night to turn the water off. Any ideas of what the problem is?

    Many Thanks Bigbird

solenoid valves are either "normally on" or "normally off" depending on your application.

For my application I use a "normally off" valve. So when the current is activated/switched on, the solenoid valve opens and needs constant current to remain open. The moment current is cut/switched off, the solenoid valve will close and not allow a flow of water.

This is the most common solenoid valve in our application.
