Hi all

Im thinking of changing my van system to a static system in my garden.

Just wondering if anyone produces their pure water in a garage or their garden etc and then pump it into the van that way and if they would recommend it and have any good tips?

Thanks

Yep I do, I much prefer it. I have a icb 1000L tank, 600gpd R.O, d.i vessel and a 10000L ph submersible pump. Then 1 inch 20m long hose, take 9mins to fill my 500l van tank from empty to full.

Go for it

I personally have my system in my van and I need it to produce water when I'm working away. However if you have the spare room at home and don't do any work away from home then a static is a no brainer.

You don't have to carry 100+kgs around with you everywhere you go, servicing is a lot easier and, especially this time of year, the risk of freezing is greatly reduced.

In my garage I've got a 1000lt ibc, 450 gpd ro system, a booster pump for the water pressure and an external pump with petrol pump type delivery hose and nozzle.

Prefer the external delivery pump as if something goes wrong it's easier to get to.

Love it.

Makes the van lighter and far more room.

very simple to set up.

Takes less than 5 minutes to fill up the van and leave it running while I'm working, nice and full when I get back.

Thanks for all the comments.

So what would I need to get then to purify my water?

A good RO system with filters going into my IBC tank with a ball **** in it. Then a pump to push the purified water into my van tank?

Thanks

I have 3x200l drums in the basement connected at the bottom. A cheap 450gpd RO with autostop so it doesn't overfill the barrels.

I dont have the opportunity/need to drop by the house to refill as I mostly work 1h+ away from home. So I just hooked up one of these cheap diaphragm pumps (with a beefy 12v power supply) from eBay to the barrels in the basement and have a self retracting hose air reel on the outside of my house I hook up to the van.

In the van I have a retracting power reel I hook up to an outlet outside the house to charge the battery and power a solenoid to auto stop the water filling process. It takes 2-3 hours to fill when completely empty but I don't mind as I don't need the van before the next morning anyway.

Here's an older video with the van setup.
