I have my tank in the middle of my van and I'm thinking of putting flat against my bulk head would this be better than having it in the middle ?

Really yeh? I suppose it would be better because if i was to crash the tank wouldn't travel as far as for if it was at the bulk head it wouldn't move as much

Id be more inclined to put it above the rear axle for extra traction .
