Hi ,

I have received my filter and WFP equipment but unfortunately I have to wait for a fitting for the filter before I can start making pure water.

I have a conservatory roof to clean and I'm just wondering if I could just use water straight from the tap .

is it a good idea to run this water through my hose and pole and will it affect the water quality once I have the filter set up?

Thanks

Most people use tap water for conny roofs, straight from the customers tap. Just flush all the pipework through with pure water before you attempt windows. The only issue I've had with plugging straight into a tap is sometimes the water pressure is too much to operate a univalve - so the tap just needs turning down a bit to compensate, this is a good idea anyway as most conservatories leak if they are sprayed with high pressure tap water

I would say it depends on weather irs a glass roof or polycarbonate, what’s your tds? That will give you a good idear as to being able to get away with it : hard water might give you limescale problems , we live in a soft water area and always use pure for all work tap water is ok for initially rinsing off loads of dirt but I would give it a final rinse with pure will look much better if it’s glass polycarbonate tap water will be fine

I've only ever done a couple of conservatory roofs but I have never found a customer is happy to have the roof cleaned and not the windows. Its inevitable that some water from the roof will land on the windows so you will need to trad them.

Even if it is a glass roof you may be able to get the clean done and offer to come back and quick wash and rinse with purified water when you can. If the customer is down to earth enough they will understand. Some of the more experience members will probably point out this is time wasting but it sounds that you are just starting out (as am I) and time probably isn't an issue yet.

I've been a Trad window cleaner for 10 years but am new to WFP which I decided to get because I've recently gone on my own and many of my customers windows are too dangerous for me to do alone . I also wanted to be able to target higher buildings as where i live they are building more and more flats and town houses.

It's a polycarbonate roof so I will use tap water and my pole and use trad all the windows . Thanks for your help mate

I still ain’t mastered flats yet. I did a couple and then some woman came out screaming at me that I was dripping dirty water down onto hers. I gave hers a quick rinse to shut her up but I had to tell my customer I wouldn’t be back!
