I've been tempted to as I haven't worked since Wednesday and it's getting to me and we all know now coming into winter things are not going to get any better. What do you all do and what sort of response e do you get from custys ?? Thanks

If I was WFP I would have one of those yellow coats the fishermen wear and I would be out there cleaning in hurricanes without a care in the world.

at the end of the day our bills have to be paid!!I clean in light to moderate rain."thats it".i do one of two things.look at the weather forecast ahead to get a basic picture of the weather.(not always right)when you have a mixed week you have to" hammer "the dry days.early start late finish.other thing. if I know its going to be a bad week.heavy rain etc.its gutter vac time.you can easily get loads of gutter cleaning jobs & work in the rain.it works.youve got to be cheeky & sell yourself.

Yeh I get where your coming from in the gutter cleaning department thing is I hammered my custys all summer for them haha and mostly all of them have allready had them done. And like you I tend to clean in light rain but still get odd looks as if they saying wtf are you doing hear in the rain lol I do always say to them tho of it doesn't dry like it always does then to call me within 24hours and I will come back. Never had anyone phone so must be ok. But I was wondering in the slightly heavier rain what to do still just smash on like always and say the same thing or is it best to leave it. ?

So far this year i have taken two days off due to bad weather. If the weather in unworkable IE high winds and rain and the finish of window will be rubbish then i have a list of work that i can just turn up and start cleaning.

    My current list of rainy day weather is ;

    5-10 Conny roofs
    2-3 solar panel jobs
    Countless fascia cleans.

The customers are asked if there is any rush. Usually it's a no. I then say i will do them when its raining. I "sometimes" give a discount. On a £225 job that was 4 hours non stop in rain which was actually hurting my back i gave them 10% off. They were over the moon!

The last day i took off was actually this Wednesday gone. I have worked countless Saturdays this year and i am fully booked on Saturdays until Christmas. So a day off didn't go a miss.

Today i finished my work early and it was a lighter day for a change. As i was packing away customer paid me and said early finish. I replied yeah, all up to date. If you want anything cleaning on your house let me know now as i can fit it in. We both looked up at F/S/G and we agreed a price and off i went cleaning.

Having to take time off from work due to weather in my eyes is poor planning. I have either hit or exceeded my monthly target for about 3 years now. I had a small blip with illness but sorted that.

Of course i don't want to work in the rain its horrible. This is why i rarely go on forums when its raining or facebook. Its filled with people saying.

" Oh its a paper work day today coz of rain "

    " Another rained day off"

I check forums throughout the day as i am sad, except when its raining as it just winds me up HA!

A sole trader has X amount of working hours per day/week/month/year. How you fill them is up to you.

I could go on and on. A lot of the time its in your head. Most customers don't bat an eye lid to rain. Its England! Make a joke of it!

I had one customer today question cleaning in the rain. I said i am here to clean the windows of all the dirt that build up between cleans, i am not here to guarantee clean windows for 5 weeks. I also said it wasn't raining 2 hours ago. So what if i had cleaned your windows 2 hours ago in the dry, they would still get wet. I wouldn't risk my reputation for a few £. I know the windows will dry fine and they do!

The most important part of working in the rain is keep dry, keep going or as i tell my good friend matt "Head down, crack on"
