How many watch it

While I think it's a fantastic cause (all the money goes to English kids) & I do always give to it I can't stand watching it.

It's the same every year. People on programmes that I can't stand like eastenders coronation st strictly all just singing & dancing. It's so boring.

Anyways let's hope they raise millions for all them under privileged kids.

Never watch it, children seem to still be in need year after year, why we need a big show to make some money I don't know...

We should be helping all children regardless of the annoying show...

Sad that we need a show once a year to raise some money when you think about it!

In watching the England game

Don't bother with it, I give to charity in my own way, I pick a charity each year (usually local) and donate a % of my profit, I used to give 5% of profit to Acorns (https://www.acorns.org.uk/) for years for example, at least this way I KNOW where the money is going and I KNOW its actually helping.

Great cause but not my cup of tea. Got a visit from a couple of door knockers from Great Ormand Street Hospital this evening, seemed a bit out of order, like they were trying to beat Pudsy to the punch- told them they can f*** right off!

Charities have unfortunately had to start playing hard ball as no ones giving any more, during the recession everyone stopping giving and most not signed back up again, also so many people now don't trust them.

I tell you one charity that gets very little attention and one I had not even heard of until I nearly needed their help myself and that is McDonalds charity.

When my boy was in the womb he had one heart chamber really small to the point we were told he probably wasn't going to make it, we spent 6 months travelling to Birmingham at least once but sometimes three times a week having tests/scans etc etc, he had to be born there as well with specialists in the room, all the gear in the corner was whisked off the second he was born etc

But anyway, we got taken around the children's intensive care unit and was told he would be there for potentially months after he was born and I asked the question of where would we live, how could one of us stay in the area as commuting would be impossible and we couldn't just leave him alone, we were told we could stop FOR FREE at a block of flats around the corner that was owned and run by the McDonalds charity, apparently they have blocks of flats up and down the country for this very reason, all for free for parents.

I thought this was amazing, luckily we didn't end up having to use them, he was born at 9lb 4oz and was totally fine, the chamber was under pressure they think and when born it expanded, it is still slightly smaller but this should never cause a problem.

I always put money in their boxes now when I grab a burger.

Agreed. The last bit was just a joke, but you could see the reasoning behind the big push.

I don't trust them at all, and I never sign up or give at the door. The worst ones that grip my sh*t are the ones where someone knocks and says "I need to raise money so I can hike Kilimanjaro...and whatever's left I will give to charity". Usually some upper class knobjockey. Now they can get bent.

My dad got ripped off by someone posing as a charity at the door a few years back. The guy was caught and on the local news.

one of my workers is doing his community service in local charity shop. iv told him he could be coining it in, buying goods out the backdoor of the shop at trade and then floggin on ebay

Now that is good. I'll do the same from now on.

I have charity's i will give money to but these guys who knock doors take the ****

I had 1 guy knock from mcmillan i think it was

Wanted me to sign up for 2 quid a month

I said no but i can give you a tenner towards it

He said no as he wouldn't get commision on it

Was interested in earnjng money and not give a monkeys what gets donated to the charity

Unfortunately out government sees other countries as being more worthy than the people we have in poverty and dire situations here. Far better to put out propaganda bashing the poor/dissabled/helpless than tackling the problems. Politicians love giving foreign aid as it makes them look good when they go and join the EU gravy train. Its the equivilent of adding 'voluntary work' to thier political cv whilst handing over someone elses money(hard work).

Here is a copy/paste from McDonalds charity page.

"In the UK, Ronald McDonald Houses are located near to NHS specialist children’s hospitals. The Charity offers families a warm and welcoming environment within which they can stay for as long as they need – be it a matter of days, months or even years. Houses are equipped with everything you would expect to find in your own home including en suite bedrooms, kitchens and communal living areas. They also have quiet spaces for children to do their school work and for parents to work remotely – in this way they ensure families can still operate together, as they would at home. Families can cook, clean, rest and be together, all the time knowing that they are only moments away from their child in hospital.

Where possible, a direct telephone line connects families' rooms in the Ronald McDonald House to their child's ward, providing reassurance that should an emergency arise at any time of the day or night they can be with their child in a matter of minutes."

"In the last 25 years, fourteen Ronald McDonald Houses have been built, which help over 6,000 families each year. However, there is still a great deal to do. Many families still have to sleep on camp beds or in their cars in order to be close to their children and, with your help, Ronald McDonald House Charities is determined to help as many of them as possible."

Its not something you consider unless in the situation, we had no idea what we would do as we already had a little girl at home, both of us working etc

I knew they did charity work but didn't know that..that is very cool and actually contributing something worthy to society

Watch day time TV.

Every ADS break at least 1 if not 2 commercials for 'give just £5 a month to save an African child / donkey / cancer patient' and on and on.

Go to the letter box. At least 2 'charity bags' a week. 'Give us your stuff you worked your assistance of for so we can sell it so we can feel better about our selves'

Goto supermarket some busy bod rattling a cannon your face 'help gods missionary program pi$$ off the rest of civilization by telling them they are all wrong'

Goto town. Some zit faced college kid 'hello sir a minute of your time, did you know we need to save the whales?'

Live (as I do) in a terraced house. At least 3 door knockers a month!

Where the fu(k does it end? It is beyond ridiculous!

When is Africa going by have a concert to help poor under privileged white English folk?

I give every year to the Legion as I support our troops. Not our government that sends them to fight illegal wars but the troops themselves.

Africa is a waste of time, I helped put some wells in when I was a nipper, going back nearly 20 years, the chaps I did it with went back and the wells we had dug had been used as toilets and had dead animals thrown down them.

If after the amount of help and money they have been given they STILL can't get it together, they are doomed and we are just prolonging the agony.
