wrist pins and needles

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Occasionally or a slight finger cramp after a fairly intense day but only slightly and thankfully gone in a short while. I have had a Ganglion cyst suddenly come up on the back of my wrist on a really cold day a few years ago. A sharp clout with a diary saw that off. It came back a few times and I, or more accurately my son gave it the same treatment. Thankfully, no recurrence for the past few years.

If you ware a watch make sure the strap isn’t done up to tight I had similar several years ago doctor said it was carpal tunnel and was going to see a specialist , I broke the watch strap and got a different one that was looser by the time my appointment with the specialist came through I was fine again he said it was probably the watch strap done up to tightly not had any problems since

If it is carpal tunnel it shouldn't affect the little finger. If it is you can get some relief with a cortizone injection but eventually it's the knife.

Hi anyone else get pins and needles in hands and wrists after a few days on  pole work thanks
No never. Are you sure you are rubbing the wrong pole.

If you get pins and needles then you are trapping nerves or have a poor wrists. Too many monkey hold poles work in fluid upward push pull strokes and eliminate kinking your wrist upwards onto your wrist

How long have you been using a pole? If icepacks and anti inflammatories don't work then a trip to the doc will be the next thing to do.

When I started to get busier I started to get an RSI type injury near my elbow joint. I iced it for 30 minutes at a time 2 or 3 times on the evening and took Ibuprofen.

I then studied my technique on how I was extending the pole, I was  extending it far to quickly and was using a flicking technique, I now extend it a lot more smoothly but slightly slower. This solved the problem and even though a lot busier now I don't get any issues.

ive been wfp for 15 years now. i have developed slight pains in my left thumb. And near enough every night my whole left hand is literally dead. i have to lift it up with my right hand as its totally dead. takes a couple of mins of tingling for it to come back to life. Not sure whats going on. I regularly have sports massages as well. but this has started happening over the last 2-3 months

I do this exactly and I also have a RSI of the inner elbow or golfers elbow. Although it’s lessened recently I never thought about how the extension may cause it also so Thankyou for that. I’ll give that a go tomorrow ?Ripping the pole back up from upper windows also contributes to it

Cleaning right handed half the time has helped me ( I’m a leftie).

you use different muscles, so you lessen the strain.

it took me a while to get up to speed though. I started  just doing frosted glass right handed, and built up  from there .

So many things can affect your body. As said could be impinged nerve. Maybe carpal tunnel. Maybe a tight muscle putting pressure on a nerve. A good sports massage that can strip out your forearms/ upper arms/ chest/ upper back, might identify problem.

Other added things is how hard you grip the pole, e.g. tennis racquets come in different thicknesses, so you use the right size to play your best, maybe same with pole, if you have large hands you may have to clench hand harder to hold pole n stress the small muscles in hand n vice versa

Yep if you have these issues definitely try this

i started off doing tops with my dominant hand and all bottoms with lesser one

I now alternate it every job tops one hand bottoms one then next job switch it the other way round. Sometimes i forget and realise when one of my arms starts feeling more strain  ?
