Hi all thought I would share some results from my recent days canvassing.
This is all residential roads, thats is well catered for with several well established windies operating the area already. All door knocking done mid week during the day hence the high proportion of "not in's".
Total of 363 doors knocked
241 not in (flyers posted)
90 No thanks or already have windy
16 Quotes given on the door.
12 quotes converted to regulars
4 others, e.g. vacant house,
6 jobs from flyers.
NB one of my first questions is do you have windy, if a yes I walk away, i'm not into nicking others work. Unless the customer makes it very clear they want to change.
Thats a conversion of 3.3% doors knocked to new business. I know this is not great and I'm sure I wont have any canvassing companies knocking down my door to offer me a job, but I thought it might be interesting to see how other "non professional" canvassers results compare. I sure I will get better at this as my confidence grows, and i hope to see the 3.3% grow (as long as it dose I know I'm becoming a better canvasser).
Top Tip I was given by a long time windy and seems to really work - best way to convert the quotes to regular customers is to offer to do the clean there and then, that seems to secure commitment from the new customer, when you actually do the first clean and they see nice sparkly windows.
My web site has brought in 2 enquirers over the last few weeks so room for improvement there, but I now see I'm getting first page listing on Google in my town, which I'm pleased with as this is the first web I have produced for scratch including the seo stuff.
Anyway would be interesting to see hard figures from any other members if their willing to share, and share any tips on ways to improve canvassing techniques.
