Hi guys , I've a customer that owes me £40 for window cleaning , I'm sick of being told come here come there and there never in and I feel like I'm being taken as a mug, could I take this customer to small claims court for such a small amount ? Or would a bailiff company buy the debt from me ? I know I should just walk away and forget about it and I have on other occasions with other customers but this woman is really getting. Under my skin and I want what I owed /emoticons/smile.png

I'm sure someone mentioned in another thread a company on here that does debt recovery letters you could use.

hi puraclenz if you go on to a website called thomas higgins .com they specialise in debt recovery and its only 2 quid plus vat per letter

Go & wash her windows with plenty of soap on yer applicator. Lather em up & walk away. I've done it twice. Must admit its not the sensible way but gave me a lot of satisfaction. Hate the ones that do that. Get my goat up.

yeh about to do one of my dodgy ones....left it last time although she paid me alright for some reason....hmmm good luck with that one....hey....i better get my £50 ...three times now...off another...its a dodgy life at times...my new policy for new jobs...pay up front....sorry but i not taking any more risks..

but one battle i had with a custy led me here...so i reaped some benefit....and i got my cheque in the end....i did it online ...its quite easy....i sent them two registered letters which they duly signed for and then i took them through the small claims court online....you can always claim the fee back as well so it may be easier....i would send them a letter first saying you intend to do it and get them to sign for it..and then give a time limit...and if you have to ...it is simple on line..although mine was £325 so was worth it...cant tell you how it felt to get that cheque...

I'll take a look at this thanks m8

I had a customer who didn't want to pay

After 2 attempts he said I didn't do a good job even though it was spotless

my best mate wez went and asked quite politely and he paid up straight away

it helps he is 6'7" and around 19 stone:D

seriously though small claims Is good as he will have to pay all costs and you can claim back any expenses incurred

My youngest is the same height and seems just as wide in muscle so I must remember that one if me bazzoka doesn't work./emoticons/biggrin.png

Might help if he turns up with his blue lights flashing too

What like this do you mean? :D

One legal way of taking this to a small claims court is this (but it is up to you how far you want ti take it)

1) write on headed note paper to the customer that this debt is outstanding for x amount of weeks and as no payment as been paid your company will now be adding interest to the debt either (weekly or monthly) what ever suits you at what ever reasonable percentage you set.

So you could say your company will set this percentage weekly or monthly until the invoice is paid in full including interest.

2) keep sending invoices wkly or monthly with added interest until you feel the interest as covered the cost of a small claims costs

3) then take your claim to small claims with copy of letters and invoices and the custy is liable for all money added to the billl

It all depends how far you want to take it

I have used this in a past business ( not window cleaning) and yes I did win the full amount including interest

i usually wait a while and then get even. im jus about to do that to a nursing home who owes me . oooer

Its ridiculous what we have to go through to get paid and the fact that nursing homes try it on also is appalling.

Im not sure how you would stand in court cos theres only a verbal agreement in place to clean windows nothing written down.

I love the idea of customers signing agreements when you start cleaning for them.A mate of mine did it in cheshire his customers paid by direct debit and he didn't take ob too much work so he could keep up to them. Its something im thinking of doing once im feeling better.

er my non or slow paying custy is getting the following note...

since my children no longer require daddys taxi service i no longer have time to collect money so i shall be calling thursday if you require your windows cleaning please leave the sum of £7 under the wheelie bin thankyou...

the nursing home that owed me paid up after i rang them. i was planning on soaping up the lot as my revenge which might have been hard work 3floors of it.

i sense the business there is in deep do-do, not my problem. iv no sympathy for any place that charges 600+ a week per person.

I did that with blockbuster round here

The manager saw me turn up.and let me do all the front outside then I went inside and he says head office wont let us pay for a windie anymore

So I went back outside in the sunshine and soaped them a back up quickly and then drove off

Did them for about 6 years a bit cheaper than I should have as the previous manager was a good friend and got me the work

Lessons learnt..no such thing as mates rates and people are arseholes

Think I'll just get revenge looks like collecting the £40 owed me is going to be impossible , I'll soak up there big front bay window mmm but what to use maximum mess ??????
