What is the best and cheapest way of going about creating a website for my business

Wordpress is definitely an easy-to-use option and some templates (even the free ones) look really good.

There's also sites like http://www.wix.com/ which can be alright.

As boarcity said, as well - vistaprint is a very good option!

Ok thanks

wix, yola & vistaprint all have the downside that Google can see who you're hosted with & instantly recognises that this is a place where the majority of sites are small & insignificant - - this can drag down your ranking because you're on the same server.

I'd recommend getting a "lite" hosting package from www.tsohost.com and installing wordpress on it - there's nothing that wordpress can't do!

Forget a 2 or 3 page site - Google loves fresh, unique, high quality content so go 6-8 pages minimum AND update the blog regularly. The more content you have, the easier it is to get good search rankings.

I just deleted my new site

I get more compact work on my doorstep by canvassing

There is enough work round here to build a whole round within a 2 mile radius

That a pity @daveboy1 as I think a good website is a must thesedays no matter how much work you have.

I was only toying with the idea when i started it but i haven't even made a dent in my local area and have loads of work

If i diversify at all into other services it will be worth it but as it is i am getting known as the local windie round here through word of mouth and my presence here all the time is getting me seen
