Door knocking.

Sometimes a call to action soft sell leaflet like that you can get better results than door knocking for sure.

Don’t put a full price on it though or you will not have the same results.

I agree Smurf I just gave a price for the windows I could see on the front wall. It was a low price to catch their interest and then in most cases got the full house. This was a few years ago but I'm sure it will still work.

I should have my 5000 flyers Monday/Tuesday next week so am going to start in my village where I've alredy got about 10 people interested.

I'm going to try a different approach when they answer the door, when they ask "how much?", I'm going to reply with "what price do you think is a reasonable price?"

Obviously I've got a minimum per house which I want to be £10 per house per month, so if they think £12/£14/£15 etc is reasonable and it's a house that would fit into my £10 minimum category then the price they say is the price I'll quote.

Sounds good in theory, and as I'm from a sales background also I'm used to selling techniques etc

I like that realkidjoker, what if they say £2 your then arguing with them to get them up, 1 thing i love to do is if they are super keen I say " Your the most enthusiastic person Ive had all day........................... £500 " They are in absolute shock then I say " only joking its £6-£7-£8 ( whatever ) on the front " They book every time

I hate answering the door to a salesperson, any sales person. Once I am home I really don't want to stand listening to someone whom I never asked to call. With that in mind, I decided not to do it. That left me with a leaflet through the door option. You can put out far more leaflets in an hour than you can knock, wait for an answer, explain your reason for calling etc.

But we all know that the return for leaflets can be as low as 1%, So I made a leaflet that gave a quote for the front only of the property. On the back it said, It would cost just £ to have your front windows cleaned every six weeks'

I would write a figure next to the £ sign and push it through the door. The return for these was very much higher, with people ringing to say if the front is only £5 how much for the back and sides etc

I don't need to go out and find work now but if ever I did I would use this method again.

I'm the same, and I do a similar thing with the leaflets, but I try to give a quote for the whole property and also have a tick option on the back to leave it for the following morning in a window, so far worked a treat, get 2-5 customers off 100 leaflets on average.

That and facebook, it has probably taken me a lot longer to get going with the windows than someone who knocks 24/7 but I have been lucky and not needed to get the ball rolling instantly and had time to build it up.

Its worked for me, I am now getting people coming to me rather than me going to them.

That is a good method it seems them flyers. I had very professional flyers done, very nice and well laid out, but I feel they are putting people off as think its going to be high price. I used this for my facbook advertising and I simplified my approach on there and boy has it paid off, so now I have made a nice looking flyer, but more simple but still enough to show its a well controlled business but by a person and a person whom cares about his work, i think that comes across better to people. Will let you no how that goes. I have 2000 being doen and will have them out in 3 weeks and within that will be following up 3 days later with door knocking each day, so a real hard push on all fronts within a month.

I really do think making things more simple but in a clean format is the way and also door knocking, come across totally genuine and mention your a local window cleaner you can get results. I have found customers come to me from larger van based cleaners from large business and say there no good, so I think people relate to there other local community member better, rather than the big business or pro looking set up thats beyond pro and is about £££ - its then after you need to have a good set up in terms of delivery of service, make that spot on from clarity of when and how you will perform to the actual performance of cleaning your on a winner if done well.

Well in an area I knocked where there was no windy I got 8 jobs from about 16 doors answered. Leaflets I got 2 calls from about 20 delivered. Which is amazing return as before ive known it as low as 1 in a 1000.

Im going to get a few thousand end of month similar to those outlined above and use in conjunction with knocking. At least that way you feel you are doing something when no one answers. I might even during the daytime when most are out just leaflet foe the majority and knock on those that are either dirty or there is a car outside meaning more likely to be in. Probably work a street at a time and simply note down NO's only meaning that any all other houses can be re canvassed at some point. I think if I can do just an hour a day no matter what then its just a case of keep going. The main thing for me now is to get to my target of 100 custies so I can go full time and really get stuck in over the summer rather than running about between jobs and having to work every sunday when I should be out fishing.

This was exactly my thinking and finding. I had really pro looking flyers done and as I was delivering I thought people will think I am expensive, and sure enough I did get some patios and drives off them (I do pressure washing as well) I got zero windows. Self printed well put together but obviously done at home and I get really good results, plus they have a price on them so people can say yes or no right away.

I think you need to try as many different methods as possible to find the best for you. Although what works in one town may not work in another.

I am finding this also changes from town to town, I work in 5 towns, two of them I get very little off facebook and got most of the work in those off flyers, of the other three one is 50/50 flyers/facebook, but I have two towns that just LOVE facebook, I get work off facebook in those towns reliably every week.

@Scottie could you put pics up of the pro 1's that was unsuccessful and then the homemade 1's please. I'm just about to get my van sign written clothes signed business cards made up and flyers done! your input would be a great help as money is tight cheers

This is my home made flyer, this has got me infinitely more work than glossy pro flyers (tried two types and got nowhere with them).

Help yourself mate, if it helps you're more than welcome, I have had some great hits off these, I target specific areas, best hit was 7 off 100 flyers.

Lowest was 1 off 100, but turns out off the one that the area is sewn up by another windy, but apparently he is a bit of an arse hole (her words not mine :P )

What I then do is put an invoice through as normal along with a introduction letter telling them all about our service, what other services we offer, how they can get in touch if they have any problems etc etc etc.

Nice leaflet.

I know we always joke that there is a spelling mistake, but I think you have forgotten the 'R' on You/r.

On the title line it says

Are you windows dirty? I assume it should say, Are your windows dirty?
