Moss off roof cleaning

Been asked to quote for this, its both sides of a steep pitched bungalow roof 10 metres in length each side and roof 9 metres to ridge. Any ideas on methods and quoting? ive removed moss from my roof with scraper on harris pole and got the thickest off but would want to leave a better finished job for a customer.

Sorry I can't help as I don't get involved in roof cleaning as is way too much hassle

I have done a few. Hard work.I did it from the ladder with gutter tool on my harris pole and then with stiff brush attached to my gardiner clx 27.

Ash, you might have seen it already but I made a thread about a roof clean I did not so long back. Might be worth a look if you haven't seen it. Careful not to underestimate it, it is hard, and uncomfortable work if you're just scraping, and not pressure washing it off.

Probably best left by the look of it, didn't know if there was a easy way id not thought of. Not keen on high pressure washing in general. I shall make a graceful retreat from this job lol

Apart from the hard graft mate, I actually enjoyed it, the weather was beautiful both days. It was just the price that soured it as I walked away with what I could make on a couple of casual days on the windows-so not worth the work or the danger. on the danger front I never felt I was in any real danger as I could comfortably sit down on the roof or ladder.

I would do it again on a bungalow, but only today I turned down a roof clean in a house as the stakes are a lot higher.

Its all about price, so if you don't really want it, put in a nice high price and you might just get lucky and have it worth your while.

Even using a chem treatment most suppliers say the moss on the roof needs to idealy be scrapped off first for the best results:confused:

Used to do a bit of roof cleaning. It's a pig of a job. If you don't need the work give it a miss. If you want to get into though there is good money and a bungalow is an easy start. No easy way to do it though - a wallpaper scraper is best!

or you could use an expensive doff system maybe that does not damage roof tiles as uses low pressure and superheated water.

This system is 4k with vat. Or they hire them at 200 plus vat and will ship for hire on a pallet.

I'm not sure of it's use for domestic work tbh. Most using these kind of machines are big firms with big jobs, specialists stone cleaners.

was it doff or toric or different @Rascal ?how about drive cleaning using this and wall cleaning and so on on domestic properties?no chemicals involved and also no risk of staining natural stones as example...

It's a great bit of kit at a very competative price. I'm going to put some feelers out and see if I get any takers and maybe rent one for a week. It would work well on patios, sandstone in particular. Less issues with pointing. It will be slower though and i'm not sure if you could sell it as better service for more money than just pressure washing....

Walls and stone work on a house is it's main use. I have never been asked to do this though so not sure how to push it.

I think if you advertise it properly you will not necessary be able to charge more but gain competitive advantage to get more work with that system.I need to start looking into it.There are similar systems on thre market I need to find out which one is best for my requirements.
