Im getting an slx 25 and been told be too small to do solar panles my question is should I buy a separate pole say a slx 35 or 39 ? or could I add extensions to my slx 25 and if so which ones and how many will in need from gardiners??

also are there specialist brushes to use for solar work?

what should I charge ? I was thinking of £4 per panel with a minimum £25 job charge?

Do you do in same way as window scrub then rinse down?

Cheers all

Best you book up on @Solar Steve training course as that is the only way you will get answers from that guy. Mind you you have to work for him too or you don't get to keep the t-shirt or training cert.

Cleaning any type of solar panel be it domestic or commercial arrays you have to be mindful that it's not just glass you are cleaning but you will be working on a live system that can't be turned off. Therefore you need to take reasonable precautions as to reduce the risks involved be it at working at height and/or risk of electrocution if you are unlucky enough to come across a faulty/damaged solar panel.

Using carbon poles may not be a great idea as conducts electricity quite well especially when wet. Even @Alex Gardiner has said the insulated bottom section of the pole may not protect the user if the outside of the pole gets wet.

To be honest I've never bothered to advertise solar panel cleaning as the majority of domestic installs are a real pain in the **** access wise to do.

I wish I could find time to ride it, I'm either working or quoting ATM

I do windows and add ons. Get a website asap, it will pay for itself over and over. The work comes to you rather than you looking for work, probably not ideal if you're just starting out as you need work coming in fast to start with. I get a steady trickle coming in off my site, I have a gutter clear, a 4 bed house 4 weekly plus conny roof, soffits gutters every 3 months, a 3 bed semi, another 3 bed semi and a 4 bed detached to quote tomorrow and that's before any enquiries that come in tomorrow too. So yeah, I'm busy. I need to canvass a couple of new estates where I have already picked up work and I know there is more to be had, but I just can't find the time. I've promised myself I will canvass them tomorrow while out collecting.

My advice is to door knock if you have the time and get a website. A lad called @Dodger who used to post on here made my site and he was very reasonable. It costs me about a quid a week to host it.

An Extreme 25' with extensions is a more flexible pole, not in terms of rigidity, but in terms of accessing different heights of surfaces that need cleaning. A 47' will always weigh as much as a 47'. A 25' with extensions may be the only bit of kit you need if you are just starting out. It is the way we do things.

@Smurf is right, the solar training course may be of value to you.

Thanks a lot mate

anychance of sending your web address for me to have a look please, he still about then dodger ?

so would you defienatley recommend the business to be then mate knowing what you know now? I already run a small cleaning business so doesn't matter too much if things don't happen too quickly although hoping to do more and more windows/gutters and less of what I do now - hate it...

thanks again
