A good friend of mine is general maintenance manager off a massive UK firm carny name at mo!

A year ago he aprroached me regards cleaning solar panels all over the UK due to the new builds and the new government legislation there is going to be massive amounts off work!

It's now moved to proposition stage and I'm looking more and more like sealing the contract

The trouble is its going to be big and I may need people to help me out but they must have all there own gear and harness lanyard training

I will put through ipaf

The other option is putting 4 vans out and funding and employing people which I'm unsure about!

The last option is turning it down totally as I'm happy doing my windows etc and will never give that up!also have joint custody off my daughter so unsure about working away a lot!it covers Ireland to

There also working on a new product for solar panels that they will supplie to me only which will make us unique to the solar panel market!

I haven't slept properly for days!!!

I know we're geographically close Stevie but you can count me in if you like . In fact passing your way Tuesday afternoon and next Sat as well so up for a pint if you wish to discuss.

Happy to cover east and south of me if needed. Also planning on 2 more vans by summer next year so that will help with any quantity.

As you know from New Street Grand Central we can handle and complete large scale projects.

Numbers on my Web site if you want to bell me about it.

Cheers.

I'm in Evie, as we've said beifre, be good to collaborate!!!

Happy to help with any work in my neck of the woods if you go for it!

And congrats,

It's a nice problem to have :thumbsup:/emoticons/wink.png

Sound yes your not far at all

And if all works out I'll definitely put some your way

From the sounds of it it's going to only get bigger the more builds they do and there big builds lol

So the work will grow even bigger

you no how it is you start doubting your ability to fulfil the contract

I've been working all year on it

Unfortuantly where I am, we don't even have Essex accents, too far north! Hardly Essex in Colchester to be honest, right on the border with Suffolk!

Anyway, I'm in if you want the help mate, I can cover Essex and Suffolk with ease

Think you got spell checked there Jake you meant 'sick & b!tches' didn't you? /emoticons/tongue.png/emoticons/smile.png)
Wouldn't wanna live up north, not in a million years /emoticons/biggrin.png

I do hope you have had permission from SS Stevie /emoticons/biggrin.png. From what I've read on another forum he was paying pence per panel. What will you be paying?

Brill I've think it's the best way to go getting few people on board who can be reliable and willing to do harness training etc

If all goes ahead I would obviously meet everyone on the first jobs and work as a team infect we would have to meet up a few times to discuss the ins and outs once I have a drawn up contract

There's a certain procedure they won't following and certain certs which is no problem

The product which I will be supplied is strictly for use on there panels only

Exciting but scary

Well you know in me you've got a good honest worker, who's undertaken big jobs many a time,

Happy to be part of it, if it happens mate, and yeah defo be good to have business meeting etc if you go for it,

Lots of ins and outs to discuss I suppose! It's a big deal!

As said I can cover Essex and Suffolk for certain, and other areas of needed mate

I think having everyone meeting up somewhere in the MIDDLE (sorry Jake) would be good so everyone gets to know the rest of your team and can learn as a team so if any one job is too big and they need a hand they know who they can fall back on.

Im booked on harness lanyard training just before Christmas in Bristol, I have a friend that does hi rise buildings in the city of London and am looking for some odd days up there to mix it up a bit and get some experience to do similar work more locally (south wales). Need any workers down this way let me know.

***** is specialising in this area, he has from what I gather put in a tremendous amount of time and effort getting contacts in this area and turning it into potentially a very big business, all of that I applaude it's something many of us wish to aspire to.

However, setting up a 'certificate' that has no backing from any recognised training body is worthless when it comes to insurance it's no different from myself offering a h&s note to my staff, - I tried to make this point before but I think ***** got thr hump and wouldn't talk about it - as a main contractor ***** requirement is to check his contractor is aware of any hazards and is insured this information should be a free exchange of information - insisting that you must pay to take his training course or you won't get the work borders on very sharpe practice and in the future could lead to a nasty law suit ( ie.. Company claims to be discriminated against because they didn't pay for a mic key mouse course and show they are insured and com patent to do the work, esp. As ***** says its irrevivent for residential work or a company pays for the course in the expectation or promise of 11k of work and get one 50 job - sounds like extortion )

Commercially I can not be insured to operate a cherry picker without a recognised training cert. Am I insured to clean solar panels - yes I am, so in short ***** could not reasonably refuse to let me clean them if we agreed price/schedule etc.. Other than him asking for a big back hander under the guise of a "training scheme"

I don't know ***** personally, and a couple of years back we traded an email or two but we're miles apart on price, I'd be happy to consider solar panel work, there are a dozen or more big ones close to me, but like any other work I take on it first has to be profitable, and secondly I don't need to 'pay' for it, I get it on merit.

Due to professional curtesy I'm not at liberty to discuss prices, needless to say it was less than the larger seven sided silver coin that is currently in circulation .

We're jumping the gun a bit though Darran lol,

We don't even know if Evie's Gina go for it yet, but yeah we can meet up somewhere central,

Like central London /emoticons/biggrin.png

Is it a nationwide contract Evie?

If so you'll need people all over, so we'd have to probably have several meetings in diff parts of the country?
