business networking

i went to one a few years ago but didn't fancy it, now the bloke who asked me has asked again if i want to join and he paints a good picture of it and now i need more work. peoples opinions/ experiences of this please

I went to three meetings as a guest. As i was about to hand over my money i decided to 'test it out'.

Called 3 of the members, none of them answered their phones. Not one returned a call within a week.

Decided not to proceed as i can not see myself recommending people that dint rerurn calls.
