Hi guys!! I am giving up my printers job in feb to become a window cleaner! I am slowly getting a few bits and bobs brought like a Pure Freedom Trolley etc .Was just wanting ANY tips or advice for a new recruit please. Also i have the opportunity to get a 'starter pole' a 24ft XTEL glass fibre pole for £60 is this worth it?? or shall i just jump in with a carbon fibre pole?? Also im wanting to clean solar panels,is there a specialised brush required or a recommended pole?? ive heard some poles have interchangable heads so a softer brush can be used for solar panels?!?!? Is this correct??

Love the site,well done Gav

All the best Dave

Welcome Dave. If you have the funds I would say get a carbon pole as you will likely need one at some point.

Get good at Canvassing/Sales/Marketing!!! the equipment doesn't have to be great. Get more work than you can handle, build capital, invest in business, then worry about SLX this and pure freedom that.

Just get loads and loads of customers. efficiency and equipment tricks etc come later.

As above ! And just focus on being a window cleaner at first . Get the basics , search the forum ,almost all common questions are answered in here. But then again, don't hesitate to ask if you need to. Btw . Solar panel wise, a regular wfp. Brush will do fine . Just make sure it's rainy or cloudy when you clean , panels can be destroyed if hot and cleaned with cold . And they get HOT!

Welcome mate and good luck with it all. I only started earlier this year and can honestly say I'm happier work wise than I have ever been. Same as guys said before really. Canvass and advertise as much as you can and when the works starts coming in do it then canvass and advertise some more. The rest will happen

I'm only 3 months in to this, I used to be an office manager working for 2 schmuks, just pushed passed 150 customers, I've never been happier, the only bad point to this is bad payers, be prepared to chase

Welcome mate. your best working hard on getting new customers first before you splash out on the expensive equipment. I've only started window cleaning in Feb this year built up to roughly 150 customers through canvassing, word of mouth and facebook and I am just after buying a nice wee compact 160 houses aswell. hard work does pay off so glad I left asda now.

how did you come to that figure after 4 months operating..just curious...as I was under impression if you sold your round you'd get 3-5 times your monthly turnover.

Dont get greedy at the start, but thats just my opinion. Take good care of first customers and it will pay back. Good luck!
