I think this has got to be one of the best threads on this forum.

Thanks for sharing James!:1f44d:

Sure its not for everybody, however if you do a google search there are a few companies doing this cleaning with quarterly maintenance packages (flowers placed at grave etc), so yeah definitely a cleaning biz for the enterprising soul...

My idea would be to approach the council who is in charge of the cemetery and speak with the big wig in charge and ask about putting a sign at the entrance, and giving the council a percentage.

In regards to graveyards (graveyard adjoins a church) same offer with the church pastor, but give to their charity.

What da ya think?

Great idea robert

Great app for this sort of quarterly service is 'findagrave' you can drop a pin on the exact location of a grave and photo it and save to favourites, easy to find after that. It also identifies every graveyard in you area. Not for everyone but if you decide on a different sort of add on that can be done in the rain this could make things easier.

I can imagine that it is ....so yeah I totally agree with you.

As James says: its also easy work (thanks for the PM James)

I have both a council cemetery & church graveyard very close to where i live, will have to go into the church and see the pastor.

I would even offer to do a FREE headstone CLEAN so the pastor can see the results with his own eyes, then he can spread the word, which would get a percentage from each job, hence a contribution to church funds.

win/win for all.

BTW, came across this site while doing a bit of research, have a gander at their packages:

Side note.  Some time back I spoke to specialist in this field and was informed that are two different associations you need to be a member of as well as having permission from the church itself.

Only time you can clean one without certain permissions is if you're a direct relative.

I have been on this site for 10 months and I never knew of such a service. Will need to talk to the priest at the church I am doing to see what he thinks. I would use my PW around 4pm when its quiet.

Pressure washer may damage the headstone, especially older ones. I've done a couple, softwashed them and they came up lovely

Done through family members asking, never through church

Aye, PW will probably remove the gold lettering on the stone and cost you more to repair it.

Just a side point if the headstone has lead letters on it be vary careful softwashing it as the mix will turn the lead brown and the runs from it can stain the stone .

Also if the headstone is made from slate the same thing can happen with mineral deposits in the slate , it can be fixed but it’s time consuming and can be costly

Yes a lot more consideration with this kind of cleaning. Make a bad mistake and the customer might not forget about it!

There are specialist companies for this. The guy who trained me's mum does grave tending. Like window cleaning its a regular service. Lots of people can't tend to a grave themselves. They normally offer it with a little grass cutting and general tending. I was once told that no chemicals should be used on a gravestone, just water. A lot of them would be sandstone type too which creates issues in itself.

Yes it is just a gel based sh but it seems to work better than a sh mix due to its thickness and been hold in place

How do you apply it mate, do you spray it on?

Tidy work btw👍🏽
