Hello, anyone know what this item is called with the red & blue attached to it? Is it something that would fail or burn out? Or is it my on-off switch thats faulty. Any help would be great.

Its a normally off solenoid valve.

The way to test it is to remove the terminals and put a multimeter's prongs across each terminal to see if there is a circuit. If not then the solenoid has gone.

Solenoid valves come is different voltages. You get 12v and 230v. If yours is a 12v and you've connected it up the 230v then you need a new solenoid valve.

If its a 230v and you've connected it up to 12v it won't work either.

Window cleaner suppliers favour 12v for safety reasons but appliance manufacturers, (washing machines, dishwashers etc) use 230v as they are enclosed and safety isn't an everyday concern.

Those on/off switches can be confusing to wire up.

If the unit has been working and has now failed, the probable cause is either a power failure of faulty solenoid valve.
