How do you pull your hose? (Not like that!)

Why does everything wfp related sound like an innuendo?

Anyway, cough, seriously. I have bought some Gardiner's green pole hose and a couple of univalves. I want to connect the pole hose directly to my minibore hose with rectus 21 fittings but this will be the first time I have connected directly like this (having used a belt that pulled the main hose up to now).  So how do you guys pull out 100 metres of minibore, round corners and obstacles with your pole and pole hose? You cant pull on the pole hose or it will start the univalve going!

I have just seen so many YouTube videos of folks opening up the van doors and walking off with their pole in their hands while pulling all their hose but I can seem to work out how. What setup do you guys have for just parking up, opening doors, pulling brush out and off you go?

Cheers

We very really pull the hose around a brick corner. It always seems to get caught in the gap between the bricks where the cement/mortar is missing and gets a bit shaved off.

If you have a straight pull then just walk past the corner and walk back on yourself. We also pull the hose using the main hose and not the pole hose.

We always pull the hose out to the furthest point first and then go back to the van and connect up the hose reel, switch the pump on and then walk back with the pole hose. We use EZsnap connectors from Gardiners and protectors from Exceed so don't have the pole hose connected up permanently.

All our hose reels have wheels. If there is a house or commercial property with numerous bends, we pull the hose reel out to the furthest point, tie the hose off and walk the hose reel back to the van, laying the hose down as we go.

Sometimes, YouTube videos are the exception rather than the rule. If I were making a how to video I would also chose the best location to show off my skills.

Many years ago we bought some Slip 'n slides that would help us pull hoses round corners and car tyres more easily. They worked but they weren't the best ever accessory we ever purchased. They still sell them on ebay from time to time.

Thank you. So what do you do to protect your EZ connectors on the ground? Whereabouts in the setup do you have them connecting your pole hose to your main hose?

I use a tubeless set-up so my micro-bore goes up inside the pole with no pole hose, I coil up a bunch of hose and then just walk it out laying it around obstacles, soob get pretty good at judging how much hose you need.

so i use rec21 fittings, with the female on end of hose/reel and male on pole hose, dont use a tap or univalve etc, just disconnect hose if a customer wants to yap etc;the female acts as a deadend no matter how far from van you are

So how do you deal with the rectus fittings dragging on the ground? Also I presume the poles that look like they are attached to the main hose right at the bottom of the pole are microbore hoses which can travel up the pole?

The hose on our reels is 100 meters of minibore. At the end we have 8mm EZ stop female connectors.

Exceed sell these.

https://ex-ceedinnovation.co.uk/shop/hoses-connectors/rectus-21-female-6mm-barb/

There is a drop down box for you to choose the size.

8mm for minbore

6mm for microbore.

As has been stated, when you disconnect the pole hose the female connector stops the water flow.

The pole hose is Exceed's 8mm od pole hose which is ideally suited to the univalve as it has limited stretch.

This is the connector we use to connect the pole hose into the main hose

And to protect them whilst reeling in the hose

Rectus fitting connects at the base when the pole is collapsed, then is pulled up inside the pole when it is extended, so I have no fittings dragging on the floor...

Yes I assumed that was the case but what is the rectus connected to just below your pole end? Is it to standard pole hose which is then connected to your main reel or is your pole connected directly to your main reel just below your pole? Do minibore and microbore reels go up the length of the pole?
