Hi all,

This one is well outside my comfort zone and didn't want to turn it straight away without any thought.

I have been asked if I have the equipment to clean this (i don't). Would any of you be able to give me an idea of what sort of size pole/other equipment needed to clean this? and any ideas on pricing?

Thanks

Jason

Looks 70'+ pole and a big set of cahoonas to me. The drop at the front makes it very hard to judge, do you have to clean balconies.
Yeah, I think you could be right. Gardiner do have a 74 ft option for a cool £3040.00! I have not asked for specifics but I would guess they would want the external balcony cleaned and the balcony doors would be left to each tenant.

The best one is to go there get your pole out and see how many more sections you need. U may be able too use a supermax 63, which is alot

A more simple answer = No, I don't have the equipment. I certainly wouldn't want to invest all that money only to find that they cancel in a few months time.

Has the architect made provision for the cleaning of the windows? They could have included anchor points on the roof for bosun's chairs.

Just say no, unless you want to learn how to abseil, hire and operate a cherry picker or buy a 3 grand pole. Not to mention all the RAMS etc.

its not going to be worth it for an average joe with an slx 22 lol

We do a five storey one that’s a bit like that we have access through each apartment to clean the apartment windows and both sides of the balustrade we have an agreement with the property owners that if we don’t have access we still get paid in full , all the normal windows are cleaned from the ground yours however is higher it’s doable but price it well , how many staff do you have to help it makes life a lot easier with 4 people to do a job like that . Good luck with the quote

This is a bit of the one we do , I think it will take you two days depending on access the one we do is smaller and takes 4 of us half to three quarters of a day , my advice would be price it high don’t just charge your daily rate it’s specialist work not many cleaners can do it so charge accordingly

If you have never poled at this height before then be prepared.Cleaning at 70ft is completely different to cleaning at 18-25ft.

It is very hard to tell from the pictures the best way to clean it.You may be better abseiling or using a cherry picker.

The ground looks like is slopes away massively so this will make the job difficult.

Thanks for all of the replies guys. I have decided to pass on it this time with a view of looking more into it should anything similar come up.

Try and get an idea from them what they are paying for future reference. You will then find out if it is something to look into further. If they're getting it done for say £500 then you know it's probably not worth while. If they're paying £1500 then you might need to have a look.

You can never get enough information in this job.

Good call. I wish I had thought of that before emailing him back!

With this type of work you want a minimum contract time the ones we do like this job we’re on an initial 3 year guaranteed contract then 2 yearly after that , had it all in writing but wouldn’t want the hassle of enforcing it if they backed out , but we have had no trouble with any of the jobs we do like this , I did loose one hotel as they had 5 in the chain and head office decided they would go with a national contractor to save money , big mistake the manager isn’t happy at all with the quality of the work that they are doing so Ime hoping that we may get it back again in the near future ????
