Gardiner slx worn after a year

Brought 2 slx poles last year and now both are not clamping as the first 4 inch of the poles worn away. Ive seen a video of using clear lacquer on the section to build it back up. Any other ideas? Ive used some brown parcel as a temporary fix which would be ideal if it was a bit more robust. Any ideas? 

It sounds like you’ve been over tightening the clamps which will eat in to the pole, it’s easily done, i’ve done it myself, no solution really it knackers your pole. Replace the section & don’t over tighten the clamp i would suggest dude, or just loosen the clamp and clamp it further down and accept the first 4 inches are out of bounds thats what im currently doing
