Evening Everyone.

Here’s something for you all to think about ?

Would a chemical injection pump be of interest to you?? You can make one like this for less than £25, it’s easy.

Everything about the Perry Pump, as it has been named, is explained in the videos. But basically it is a dosage/injection pump that slowly injects whatever you want into your pure water feed, crucially after your tank, or even after your DI vessel if it is is your van.

It can be useful for injecting additives, to improve them or to simply bi pass your DI Vessel.

It can also be used for injecting Upvc chemicals while you are scrubbing gutters, Soffits, conservatories etc. Then you simply turn it off and you are back to pure.

You can even use it in winter to inject isopropanol to stop your water freezing.

It’s all @kevinc250 idea, and he is happy to let people know about it and let them know how to build one themselves. I’ve been using it for a good few months and it works great. So if anyone is interested please let me or Kevin know and if there is enough interest we may do a how to video on how to build one and what you need.

It is a really useful bit of kit to have ??

Glad to hear it lads. I can testify it works very well, and I know Kevin has been using it over a year with no problems at all. It’s so cheap to build and even cheaper to fix should it need to. I’ll speak with Kevin and see what we can do about giving info on how to build it. @kevinc250

Sorry for the delayed response Lads. Glad a few of you are finding it interesting. I will speak with @kevinc250 and put out another post with a parts list and maybe a little video on how it’s put together, so look out for that ?? Will message on this post when I’ve done that.

Great idea Although I use customers tap water to rinse pvc. Would suit someone with di only and they could bypass resin bottle

What flow peristaltic pump is that out of curiosity?

I believe it’s something like 20-60 ml per minute but as you wire it into your controller and pump the flow works along with your controller. When I’m using it for additive for Window Cleaning I use 5 litre of mix in a full day, so that 5 litre of pure water with 10-15 ml of additive mixed in.

Here is a parts list:

i can maybe do a brief video at some point to show it all put together.

here is a wiring diagram for how it is wired up to the pump and controller, hope it makes sense lol3A1E42DC-CB3B-4CB2-923E-FA55A03F63D9.jpeg

Great idea, can you set chem to water dosage ratios, i.e have one chem set at 10 to one and another at 50 to one, if so how?

I have used one for a while and it is quite easy

There is a way to work it out but not sure without checking the maths with someone I know who does it

Basically you work out what it produces per minute in full power

Then do the sums to work out what strength mix you need to make in the supply bottle/tank etc you draw from

Then it mixes with the pure at a specific dosage

Wire the pump into the same circuit as your wfp controller and it will change speed along with your wfp pump and always dose at that percentage

Maybe @kevinc250 can remember the maths as I have lost the plot lol

Ok got it I think I could work it out. I’m looking at a couple of them on eBay one of which doses up to 400ml per minute so good scope for dosing between 2 & 5 percent. I think in one of your videos you advise to dose on the inlet feed of the hose. Wouldn’t it be better to dose after the pump, is there a particular reason why?

@Rb4no  as Dave said above you can work it out with premixes etc but you can’t actually set the pump to inject a certain amount of chemical ie 10-1 or 50-1. The pump runs at a certain litre per minute ratio if run at full tilt but that changes once hooked up to your controller as it then runs alongside the speed of your controller. The way I work it I just have a couple of 5 litre bottles made up of different strength of chemicals and change the bottle over dependent on strength needed. On the very odd occasion I inject neat. When I use the Perry Pump all day it uses up 5 litres of pre mixed solution, that’s a full days work.

Cool, that’s the beauty of this pump you can adapt it to your needs. The reason I don’t inject after the pump is simply because the water pressure after the pump can cause issues. Before the pump there is no pressure, after the pump there could potentially be up to 100 psi of pressure (not that many run at full tilt), so having extra joints and also injecting the chemical can be an issue. I’ve never tried it myself mind so it could well be fine.

It was originally developed so that DI users could bypass their resin vessels and inject additives or chemicals. I use it predominantly to inject Enigma additive, I don’t have DI in the van but it seems to boost the performance of the additive injecting it this way. But as I have the pump there I now use it for all my pvc work too. Sometimes I apply and scrub Chems with the Perry Pump and then use the customers tap to rinse it off. Other times I use pure for rinsing too.
