Pressure Washing Decking

Small job on tomorrow pressure washing wooden decking and balustrade. First time for me,

any tips most welcome.

Be careful you don't damage it. Sometimes parts of the decking can be rotten. 

I dont pressure wash decking. Water gets deep in to the fibres of the wood and speeds up the rotting process. A green gone spray, stiff brush and then a lead blower to blow off the loose muck is the way i would do it

I do decking but find it a bit of a pain in the ****. The best way ive found is to use a reasonably wide fan spray and do each board individually (dont use an FSC as if your pressures too high you'll chew the wood up for certain), I start at one end and walk backwards at a steady pace keeping the lance the same distance from the wood at all times, if you stop halfway along there will be a stripe where the jet stopped. Treat with biocide when your done and advise the customer to reseal/oil it as soon as possible or rot will set in quickly. charge well for it as its a bit of a mess about

I see what you all mean by lifting the fibres. Eventually I used soap a stiff brush and a garden hose. Hope to reseal this week.
