Whats the longest pole - 90ft Job

Hey guys, quoting a block of flats, 9 storey. Approx 90ft tall. Can this be done by pole safely (and if so which one??).

We have only done 6 storey at the most so far. Thank you in advance!

Ionics do an 80ft pole. Just that it cost £3500 Haha. At that price it would cost us to do the job!!

If one is contemplating doing windows at 90' then make sure you have good insurance. Don't fancy dropping a pole at that height especially in a carpark full of cars!
I’ve done this but fortunately the car park was empty as we used to clean it at 5 in the mornin for the safety aspects mentioned. Was an 80 and not a 90. Completely wrecked the top two sections and the brush which my old boss wasn’t best pleased about. I stupidly left it unattended whilst sorting the hose trying to save time and a slight breeze caught hold of it which is usually the cause of most accidents. We live and learn.

Very sorry but I can't actually believe someone comes on here asking for advice how to clean up to 90'. If you don't know how to do it safely I suggest you walk away from the job.
I also don’t like the sound of it. I have no experience with cleaning over 40ft but i would be thinking of a mobile crane? Surely unless you’ve got a hot water system, cleaning off a pole from the ground at this height wouldn’t give great results when it comes to bird poo etc? I struggle with bird poos at 35ft.
A light breeze using my 35 fully extended is uncomfortable, so when using a mega long pole it could be bloomin dangerous even if it’s only blowing 10-15mph

I left a ladder unattended and thought nothing of it. Suddenly out of no where a strong wind appeared and toppled my ladder. It hit my van and landed or destroyed a wooden planter. I was lucky because it hit a structural beam on the side of my van and didn't cause much damage. I try and never forget that incident when I'm placing a ladder.

We have a 65/70 poles that will only do a 5 modern / old 6 storey max and
If it’s 9 storey it will be higher than 90ft and you would need a 100ft to clean pole to reach,
You can get specialist poles where it’s held by rope at the top/roof

But I don’t know who does it nor do I like the idea of it.

Using 60ft poles is hard enough and I struggle after 30 mins on it,
Plus windows take a lot lot lot longer

I'll get them a price for the full thing which looks like it would require both abseiliers and a boom lift. And also the price for having up to 6 floors done by pole and let them choose.... Knowing these student accommodation places, they'll go for the cheaper option ?

Need to invent some kind of contraption that holds the pole for you n you mechanically control the action of the pole, im sure there is an engineer that could devise something, probably would be a beast n the size of a cherry picker but would be a good earner after u paid £10kplus vat for it

You guys who do four stories and above must have some shoulders. I only have a slx35 and find that a pain to control at full extension.

Simple

Cherry picker, pole from the basket. That is what every one else does, myself included.

Make sure you factor in all the costs.

Good luck.

We got there in the end! Thanks Phil, that's the kind of advice that's needed!

I have one job at around 65-ft I use a gardiner extreme 47 with triple extension packing it's not much fun but comes up alright you need plenty of space around you to move and any slight wind feels exaggerated on the top of the pole.

A window at proper height takes a lot longer and causes a lot more fatigue

Even with an Extreme there is still quite a bit of flex so if your doing a lot of high stuff go for an ultimate but expect to pay around £3500 for one.

Above 70ft or 60 with bad access then I use abseilers.

Cherry pickers are all good but I've had problems in the past when they can be delivered late or brake down and this can hold the job up.Yeah you may get a bit of hire money back but not good when your on a tight deadline.

High level work has to be priced very, well or it's not werth it.

Yes as long as you have RAMS and Insurances to do it from a MWP. Surely the company looking for quotes need all this information before you can actually quote them
Not necessarily.  There's no point doing all that prep work If they don't like the price. We've worked off cradles at 100ft before (and had all that in place of course) and after the work was completed they asked for paperwork. And these are multi million pound companies Haha.

I knew the cherrypicker route was the obvious one, just wondered about pole only as a possibility that's all.

Thank you anyway.
