As promised to Bigfoot, my findings using different fuels in a Whitby hand warmer.
I've used it now to for a few days and I've tried three different fuels as planned (I can't resist messing with equipment). My conclusion is : Aspen 4 petrol replacement is too smelly, meths is even worse. I was able to get Ronson liquid lighter fuel (the square can, not the round gas airosol) from the local newsagent. I imagine most liquid lighter fuel brands are very similar but I can't be sure. I will stick with lighter fuel as recommended. This works perfectly. I fill to about 2/3 of the filler vessel. This gives about nine hours of heat. I keep it in my pocket and it's a nice little bit of comfort in these cold days. It's very easy to use and cheap as chips to run.
I'm very pleased with it and so is my son.
