Had these to price, think I give a fair price to do a proper job safely.

Was told it was to high.

Any input appreciated ?

Job spec

To clean the cladding over hang and PVC below. 2 large apartment blocks. Access issues, sloping off steep embankment, tight access to one side.

I know for sure you can't get it from the floor, and need MEWP hire that I factored in. Was told to keep cost low and do it with a pole from the ground. Told them no way can't be done. They reckon some one will do this with a pole from the floor, and they have a cheaper price. I have heard **** like this from property maintenance companies before always trying to cut costs. But this to me took the biscuit.

How long do you estimate this to take for 2 people.

I had it in at 2 days setting Mewp up moving around site ECT.

What did you quote them if you don't mind me asking. We use our Thermatec super headed low pressure steam for this type of work. Brings it back like new.

Hi fella

Would not put it on the open forum. But I had it at 2 days 2 men and mewp hire self drive.

How does the thermatec work, is it on a telescopic pole ?

I would not touch it with a barge pole. They've shown what they're like. Questions to self if I were in your place: Am I prepared to let someone dictate the price I can charge?

How long will it take to get the money? Will I ever get the money? Do I want the stress? Do I want the worry? What do I do if they give me the runaround over payment? What do I do if they refuse to pay perhaps by picking faults? Can I afford to not get paid? Can I afford to hire equipment I may have to pay for out of my own pocket if I don't get paid? Can I afford to pay for help out of my own pocket if I don't get paid for the job? If you read between the lines. What I'm actually saying is. Not flaming likely!??

I certainly wouldn’t be told by any management company how to clean anything , you are the expert and they have asked you to do it so it’s your terms not there’s I would politely tell them the best thing they can do as they are so knowledge is do it them selves then , also that’s a specialist job so price will be high not everyone will be able to do a job like that , I would walk away personally

My fave was the Sage at Athena, you would go on pilgrimage, grease the guards hand with some shekles and he would translate the gibberish she spouted about your future.  Scientists later discovered she was stoned the whole time which is why she spoke gibberish as she was sitting on top of a vent that let out toxic gasses.  My kind of job. ????

I swear i saw something about this on the tv about a year ago, there was a series about the battle of Thermopylae etc and i think it touched upon this. Very interesting. In school i remember hearing the story about theseus and the minotaur, when he had to navigate the labyrinth, man that was awesome. Really captured my imagination!

I wouldn't touch it with a WF Pole either!

@phillip big monster of a job that requiring specialist gear. Ultimately if you've got to hire in a mewp along with the use of your poles etc, you kinda got them over a barrel as not many other windys would have the gear, knowledge or experience. Not many windys will have access to a mewp so if they want the job done they'll have to agree to your fee or risk not getting it done at all. I'd stick to your guns, don't budge on price and if they still decline your service then you're better off without the hassle and risk of non payment.

Ahem! If the job is done by Philip and they're on the inside not handing over the payment to Philip, on the outside having done the work at substantial personal expense . I'd have to question who has who over a barrel. They might be fine but I wouldn't take a chance.

If you're told to keep things cheap...then no problem.

Tell them to get some foreigners in to do the job...they work cheap!

As for Greek mythology, i'm more of an Egyptian person myself.

You can't say Pharaoh than that!
