How to deal with non paying customers

Good afternoon all, 

Just a quick one.... How do you deal with a non paying customer? Cheers all ??

I'm probably in the minority here, but for me it depends on how much it is.

I send a few reminders, then a personalized email, then a physical paper copy and/or try to talk to them in person. Most pay by then.

If not I do a calculation, is it worth it to use several more hours of my time to bring in 10£? Most of the time, it's not, and I write it off and cancel the bill.

90% or my grief when I started out was due to non payers. When I learned to shrug them off I slept better at night.

Thanks for that, ye I know what you mean, there's only so many times you can knock the door knowing they're in but there just ignoring you. I think the letter is going to be the next thing going through the door. One thing for sure is that their windows aren't being cleaned again! I just don't understand people who think it's right to not pay! Anyway thanks for your reply... Appreciate it ?? 

If you have their mobile / email If they don't reply I send them a final message saying if they don't pay, or reply, within 7 days then I'm escalating it to debt recovery. Only had to do it twice and both times they paid. 

Thanks for getting back to me what's this debt recovery you mention? Sounds like a good option. 

Just threaten them with it, if they don't reply then give them a letter saying you're taking them to small claims. If you search the site for this there is a letter template I believe
