Hi,

I have just purchased cheap pole of eBay as a spare little gutter cleaner,

its slightly too long for my van!

Can I cut it down at the base only need a few inches,

i take it I would need to take a few of each attached pole (3)

regards

I would. I would also use my angle grinder and a dust mask. I would set the angle grinder up in such a way that the disc is spinning in the direction that cuttings are expelled from the disc forwards rather than back. (This is the way we were taught to handle an angle grinder in my old Bosch days. The grinder needs to be positioned ahead of the work peice to be cut.) I would then 'reposition' the extension warning rings on each section so I didn't extend the pole too much and break the end of that section.

I've always found a hacksaw blade to be too coarse to use and splinters the carbon/fibreglass strands, even when wrapping the pole with tape.
