Anyone here abseil window clean?

WCF

Help Support WCF:

Hi guys

Just wondering if any of you are abseil window cleaners?

What sort of training do you get for this?

Just something I have been thinking about
Just look up IRATA, I priced up a job that needed some windows to be done using this method. I could earn more money standing on the ground cleaning windows with a pole then 2 people jumping off the side of a building.

It might be in NI, this was in Cambridge. The price was £720 + VAT a day for a 2 man team, they have to operate in 2's for safety reasons. That was what a company was charging so I would guesstimate they were on £25 - £30 an hour tops.
That's less than £500 a day per person and is very cheap. I guess there would be a minimum of 2 or 3 days when booking.

abseilers get anything from £130-200 a day but are priced out at around £400 per man with a minimum of 2 men.

They have to work in pairs. There are different levels but a level 3 has to be present.

A lot of abseilers don't just do windows they tend to do all sorts like installing banners, painting, building repairs the ones I have used do a lot of work at places like the O2 and London kings cross.

There isn't loads of requirement for abseilers in window cleaning to supply them with work day in day out unless you have a large customer base and operate nationally.

I would say there isn't an employed window cleaner in the country on £200 a day which is what these prices are for.

In terms of safety I would hazard a guess more die or get injured of ladders. Most people that do abseiling for a living tend to do climbing and anything height based as a hobby they enjoy the job and variety.

Pound for pound absielers were the fitness strongest and a little crazy kind of  peoples I had ever met on the oil rig, and yes each one was skilled person abseiling was a secondary skill.

When I got the company out to price my job I was speaking to one of the abseilers, he had previously worked using a WFP and found it far too hard. I just replied you're built to jump off a roof I'm built to stand on the floor pushing poles up and down, funnily enough he agreed ?

Would love to see you hanging off a cliff edge with just your finger tips for protection lol ?

I abseil window clean in Belfast. As already mentioned you need a minimum of two men. One of which has to be a level 3. There’s already a number of companies in Belfast that specialise in this work and if I’m being honest you would struggle to take off trying to do it.

I would do it for the fun of it lol.

Crazy thing is I am a very experienced clumber and abseiler but due to it being my old hobby and not for work I wouldn't be allowed to do it for work as not qualified even though I got my initial training in my spare time in the army and learnt to do it properly.

Same as you can hire a 360 digger for home use but can't use it to earn money.

Crazy.
