How to disable smart alternator for split charge relay operating

One of my best pals is an auto electrician I was telling him a while back how I’d need a b2b charger & he said I didn’t & there’s a way to bypass it to use a regular split charge relay. So I presume he meant by this method. He never said anything about long term effects or damage but I didn’t ask.
