Booster pump required

I want to produce around 650L overnight through a 4040 Ro system. My mains water pressure at best is 35psi, so need a booster pump. Can i do this with a 24v pump, or will it need to be mains. Would this pump be ok-https://windowcleaningwarehouse.co.uk/products/aquatec-24v-booster-pump

Short answer - no.

In extreme conditions a 4040 on a booster pump could consume around 9 lpm of tap water.

At 50psi without booster my 4040 uses about 4 lpm of tap water. I expect with a booster it could be 6 or 7lpm.

For years this was the booster pump of choice for 4040.

If you fit your system with a float valve and solenoid valve to shut the water off when your tank is full then you should add an electronic cutoff switch.

As Spruce says no that is not suitable. There are various booster pumps on the market which will do the job but not to the full potential of the membrane.  
 

Had a conversation with someone this week and was surprised the Booster pump they purchased ran for 20 minutes then cut off to cool down so really was not suitable.

Will be realising ours which I have trialled for a year and happy with the results. It will do near enough 400 litres in an hour. 

 
I've posted a couple of times about booster pumps and which one to get. I've gone for the pure freedom one without the controller. I'm getting 2.5 lpm of pure at the moment at 40psi so the booster should increase this a bit!

 
That sounds good Part Timer, I'm waiting on the pump it should be here Tuesday or Wednesday, then I'll think about replacing my membrane (if pump doesn't improve the TDS out of the RO). It was coming out the RO in March at 9 at 45psi its now gone upto 18 out of the RO. But with the booster it should be better

 
I get around 4lpm with the PF booster pump. 
And this is proof to why a 4040 with a booster pump can consume so much water. If @Part Timer has his pure to waste ratio at 55 waste to 45 pure his waste will be 5lpm. His r/o is consuming around 9 lpm of tap water. If his was 60 waste to 40 pure the he would be using 10lpm of water from the tap.

I bet his toilet cistern doesn't fill very quickly with his booster pump on.

Yes. The pump motor needs to rated for continuous duty.

looking to purchase a new booster pump. Any idea when your pump will be available and roughly how much?

It doesn't actually make that much difference as my pressure is very low, 23psi, anyway. I've just measured my flow rate out of tap and I'm getting circa 21-22lpm. I filled a watering can, took 15 seconds, and used it to fill a 2l bottle of water, got just over 2 and a half bottles with a bit of spillage.

Thanks for the replies, thought i was pushing on a 24v one. I went for the xline one in the end. Yes with mains hook up; but that inlet socket could be an issue as it was with me. I reverse my van into the drive and the pedestrian entrance would be down the driver's side of the van between the van and the gate. I saw that on some camper vans the socket and cable stuck out into the footpath a little with a horizontal plug and socket.

I chose to fit the socket on the nearside in the small gap that's left when the sliding  is fully open and the rear panel of the van.

This panel mounted socket is used by the business that install refrigeration van conversions. On the odd occasion I have driven the van in forwards I have still been able to plug in without causing an obstruction in the pathway with the cable.

I mounted it closer to the top of the panel. The internal wiring goes to 2 x 13amp double sockets. This allows me to plug my battery chargers in (backpack and leisure battery) and the other socket at the back gives me provision to plug in an 800 watt old wall heater in winter which is on a frame I welded up for it. Its one of 2 that were in a skip from a house renovation back in Johannesburg in 1991. They were old then. I fitted a froststat to both of them, one for my van and the other for son's van.

They are cheap and nasty things look awful get a shore power  fitting for a boat much neater , and closer fitting to the van , and 100% waterproof , not as cheap though !!????
