We currently are mainly traditional, and are starting using pole a bit more often.

We've purchased a RO system with a DI vessel.

When testing from tap it's coming up as 310, we can only seem to get it down to 18tds.

Any tips please, we are struggling and it's driving him mad.

The outside tap is just below 50 so is this the problem?

Thank you in advance for any replies

When you say outside tap is 50 I guess that's 50psi? If so depending on your RO it's a bit low. What RO do you have?

I assume you have the waste of the RO open slightly so you are getting 60% waste to 40% pure? % will vary with type of RO etc.

Measure the TDS after the Membrane before the DI and let us know what it is.

Did you flush the membrane for a while before connecting to DI?

Make sure you flush the membrane for a few mins each time you process water and do not have the waste fully closed as you will clog it up as the waste carrying the solids needs to be able to drain away!

Hope that gives you some clues?

Has the membrane been flushed through for an hour or so before first use to remove the production additives

Is the 18ppm after its been through the DI?

maybe the resins no good, or its not packed in tight and you get little passages inside, where the water goes straight through the resin without getting treated. if that makes sense.

Or possibly an incorrectly fitted resin housing with resin beads on the seals or riser tube not correctly installed

Test the TDS after it's  been through the R/O and before it goes through the DI. If the R/O isn't working this will highlight it.

The resin, or DI, might be the problem. Doing the above should rule out one or the other.

Thank you all, we've sorted it. He feels a bit silly because the resin cap was upside down ??

Really appreciate all the replies.

We now have zero!!!
There you go problem solved. It happens to us all at first.

My best tip

If ever you have to take something apart you've never been inside before photograph the steps you take of the pieces you disassemble for reference later

Great to hear you sorted it and what the solution was. You will never know how many people your thread helps in future ?  You are not the first or the last to have something setup slightly wrong.
