I assume it's from an old saying when the currency was pounds, shillings and pence. A couple of bob being 2 shillings, probably wrong but that's what I put it down to.

I’ll use a saying, don’t know if it’s just used up here, ‘bob a job’. In reference to doing a job, any job, for a bob. 😆

Come on, every village town or city has at least one  bucket Bob. You'll see him walking around with 3/4 shorts on even in the winter, ladder on one shoulder and his bucket in the other hand with a rag around his neck whistling random tunes 😆

When I went up to Hamden park for Scotland v England in the eighties, we were chatting and drinking with Scots before the game, no problem.

Got into the ground, and was stood next to a Geordie who starting chatting. Didn’t understand a word he said 🤔
